Netflix has unveiled a suite of Nordic features and series, partnering on projects with the likes of Working Title, Jo Nesbø, Milad Alami, Dome Karukoski and Sf Studios.
Little Siberia, a Finnish film from Finnish-American director Dome Karukoski, whose credits include Goteborg premiere Tom Of Finland and Jrr Tolkein origin story Tolkein, directs an adaptation of Antti Tuomainen’s novel of the same name. Netflix announced six new Nordic feature film productions at its Next on Netflix showcase in Stockholm on Monday.
The showcase, which followed similar events in Germany and London last week, gave updates on 26 titles across film and TV, including 12 new titles. For the new Nordic TV line-up, read here.
On the cinema front, new Nordic movies include an adaptation of the Key Series crime whodunnit books about Private detective Julia Stark, by Alex Ahndoril, the pseudonym for husband and wife writers Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril.
Working titled The Key Series, the debut feature-length instalment will see Julia Stark hired by a wealthy family to solve a murder been committed at their estate in the northwest of Sweden.
Banijay company Filmlance is lead producing. Casting and the delivery date has yet to be confirmed.

Twenty emerging producers from across Europe have been selected to take part in European Film Promotion’s promotion and networking platform Producers on the Move before and during the Cannes Film Festival.
The producers who were selected for the program from nominations submitted by Efp’s member organizations are Gentian Koçi (Albania), David Bohun (Austria), Julie Esparbes (Belgium), Vanya Rainova (Bulgaria), Miljenka Čogelja (Croatia), Stelana Kliris (Cyprus), Alice Tabery (Czech Republic), Emile Hertling Péronard (Denmark), Emilia Haukka (Finland), Silvana Santamaria (Germany), Vicky Miha (Greece), Júlia Berkes (Hungary), Kathryn Kennedy (Ireland), Valon Bajgora (Kosovo), Dominiks Jarmakovičs (Latvia), Erik Glijnis (The Netherlands), Elisa Fernanda Pirir (Norway), Radu Stancu (Romania), Juraj Krasnohorský (Slovak Republic), and Julia Gebauer (Sweden).

21 projects from 15 different European countries will participate in this year’s Holland Film Market (Hfm) Co-Production Platform.
Run during the Netherlands Film Festival from Sept 25-28 in Utrecht, the selected film projects will be presented to co-producers, distributors, sales agents and financies to encourage co-productions between European countries.
This year will also see the second edition of the Hfm Work-in-Progress Session on Sept 26, where five projects previously pitched at the Hfm will present rushes and rough cuts of their film to international sales agents, festival representatives, distributors and funding partners.
The prize-winning projects of both the co-production platform and the Work-in-Progress Session will be announced during the Hfm closing ceremony on Sept 27.

Five foreign finalists — all from European countries — have been selected for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 37th Annual Student Academy Awards competition. The winning student filmmaker will be brought to Los Angeles to join U.S.-based Student Academy Award winners for a week of industry-related activities and social events. The awards ceremony, where the foreign student will receive the 2010 Honorary Foreign Film award, will be held on Saturday, June 12, at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
