“Will somebody give a woman a moment?!” Laura Dern’s Renata Klein roaringly implored last summer – and she got her wish, you could say. After winning Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actress for playing Renata on “Big Little Lies’” first season in 2017, Dern returns to the Emmys this year for the acclaimed HBO series, but in Best Drama Supporting Actress as she contends for its second installment. On her eighth career nomination, the actress is gunning to accrue her second victory just three years after snagging her first with a little help from her episode submission to Emmy voters, “Tell-Tale Hearts,” the season’s second outing.
When we meet Renata in the first season, she is unbridled, snooty and forthright, married to her wealthy husband Gordon (Jeffrey Nordling) and living a most luxurious lifestyle in her glamorous Monterey home. At the same time, she’s an uber-protective, concerned mother...

It’s safe to say that Meryl Streep’s blood-curdling scream on “Big Little Lies” reached even Emmy voters, as they shortlisted her in Best Drama Supporting Actress for the HBO series’ second installment. On her fifth nom, Streep is a three-time victor for “Holocaust”, “Angels in America” and “Five Came Back”, and a nominee for “First Do No Harm”. With her episode submission to Emmy voters, “I Want to Know,” the season closer, she now hopes to scare up her fourth triumph.
She joined the second season as Mary Louise Wright, the cunning, grieving mother of her late son Perry (Alexander Skarsgard), Celeste’s (Nicole Kidman) abusive husband. While she comes to town to make sense of her son’s mysterious death, she soon engages in a custody battle for her two grandchildren, whom she deems unsafe under Celeste’s wing. After Celeste is put on the stand and...

The small Missouri town where most of the action is set “was a bit of a depressing place, a little bit behind the times. I wanted you to feel that in these characters.” Emmy voters could certainly feel it: they’ve nominated her for Best Makeup. Watch our exclusive video interview with Radow above.
