Hollywood’s sound pros nominated Birdman and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes for three awards apiece as the Motion Picture Sound Editors unveiled nods for its 62nd Mpse Golden Reel Awards, honoring the best feature film, television, animation and computer entertainment work of the year.

Date: Sunday, 26 January 2014; Venue: Bramall Lane, Sheffield; Kickoff: 13:00 GMT
League One strugglers Sheffield United will be targeting another Fa Cup upset in their fourth round tie at home to Premier League club Fulham.
The Blades won away at Villa Park to set up this tie whilst Rene Meulensteen’s side needed a replay to get past Norwich and remain in the oldest knockout football competition in the world.
Nigel Clough and United can be confident about their chances as they never lost to Fulham in a League Cup or Fa Cup tie in eight previous meetings. The last time these two sides met in the Premier League – some seven years ago – the Blades recorded a 2-0 win.
Knocking Aston Villa out of this competition is the only victory earned by the Blades in the New Year so far. I witnessed their last outing, a 2-...

I am currently jamming out to Umberto’s reworking of Christine while writing this. Who is Umberto? Umberto is actually Matt Hill who just recently did a live re-score of Pieces during the Los Angeles hosted Beyond Fest. I wasn’t really familiar with Umberto until now. After hearing these reworkings of John Carpenter & Alan Howarth tracks, I’m seeking out Everything!
The songs are not embeddable nor are they downloadable but Pitchfork states that Death Waltz will be releasing them. I will keep my ears to the ground and my eyes peeled.
Death Waltz stated that they should be downloadable. I would assume that this option will be available soon. I will update the article once it is.
Until then, listen to the tracks here.

If you caught our music feature on bands inspired by Italian prog-rock legends Goblin, then you got a sweet sample of the retro-electro stylings of artist Umberto (alias Matt Hill), who has a dead-on sense of vintage '70s and '80s synth style, especially as it applies to horror and giallo soundtracks from that period. His latest record Confrontations plays like a lost lo-fi '80s sci-fi/horror score in search of a film, and the latest video “Dead Silent Morning” offers a peek at what that imaginary movie might look like. In fact, it's such a faithful recreation of the look and feel of that period that I double-checked to confirm it wasn't a recycled clip from an actual '80s film (it isn't). Umberto - Dead Silent Morning You can hear more of Umberto's retro-horror grooves at his Bandcamp page, including the album Night Has a Thousand...
