Kenneth Storey(I)
- Additional Crew
Dr. Ken Storey, Ph.D., F.R.S.C., is a Professor of Biochemistry at Carleton University in Ottawa and holds the Canada Research Chair in Molecular Physiology. He is a world leader in the field of biochemical adaptation who studies the molecular mechanisms used by animals to survive in extreme environments. In particular, mammalian hibernation, freeze tolerance, and survival of oxygen deprivation are core topics of his nearly 800 publications and the hundreds of talks that he was given worldwide. His work in discovering the principles of metabolic rate depression has biomedical applications for organ transplantation and cryopreservation. Ken's research excellence has been recognized with the Flavelle medal in Biological Sciences from the Royal Society of Canada (2010), the Fry medal from the Canadian Society of Zoologists (2011) and election as a Fellow of the Society for Cryobiology (2012).
