Writer/director David Lea first won acclaim in 2002 when Half Life, a short film he co-directed for Greenpeace, won First Prize and Special Jury Prize at the young Advertising Awards in Cannes. He went on to direct award winning music promos for artists such as The Offspring, Emiliana Torrini and was nominated for Best VFX at the MTV music video awards for his work on the Radiohead Promo ‘There, There’.
His last short film Storage (staring Tom Hughes – Cemetery Junction, About Time) premiered at the 66th Venice International Film Festival before screening at festivals around the world. And now he’s released his latest short, On Sunday – a film half a decade in the making – shot on location in Cornwall and painstakingly post produced in the weekends and evenings over the next 5 years…

"Who said nothing ever happens on Sunday?"
For me, Sundays end up being pretty uneventful days. They are mostly spent wishing that Monday wouldn't come. For the old man in this short film, a seemingly normal, relaxing Sunday turns out to be something extraordinary. The short is called "On Sunday," and this is the brief plot summary:
A man and his dog make their routine walk to the isolated clifftops of Cornwall...but this time they realise they're not so isolated after all.
In the story, they witness a UFO rise up from the ocean and shoot up into space. It's a simple story, but it's done really well. The film was directed by David Lea, who made the film on no budget. He explained his inspiration for the short in an e-mail that he sent to Firstshowing, saying:

Check out the film below. Synopsis from Vimeo: "A man and his dog make their routine walk to the isolated clifftops of Cornwall...but this time they realise they're not so isolated after all." On Sunday is directed by filmmaker David Lea, who has...
