MTV has unveiled the trailer for The Truth Below , airing Sunday, April 3 (check your local listings for times). This is the latest film from director Scott Glosserman who previously gave us Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon . Here he's working from a script by Wendy Diane Miller who tells the story of a group of teens caught in an avalanche. Gillian Zinser, Reid Ewing, Ricky Mabe and Nick Thurston star. Glosserman might be moving back into Leslie Vernon territory next. His IMDb page now reflects the title B4TM , which we presume means "Before the Mask." Is a Vernon prequel on the way? Director Paul Verhoeven (Black Book) is preparing to direct his next film called The Student. Halle Berry has been offered the lead female role in the film. The movie, written by Wendy Diane Miller, and Badass Digest describes the story as a "sexual thriller about a 19 year old kid who takes up a summer internship… and then takes up with his boss’ wife. Things start to get dangerous from there." Well anyone that gets involved with their bosses significant other is just asking for trouble. Berry will play the boss' wife in the movie named Miranda.
Verhoeven and Berry tried to get another film off the ground together called The Surrogate, but it never happened. This will be the directors first film since 2006's Black Book.

Paul Verhoeven hasn't directed a film since the very good 2006 release Black Book. There are films he wants to make or has flirted with: a Thomas Crown Affair sequel; The Hidden Force [1]; Eternal [2]; a video game adaptation [3]; and a film called The Surrogate [4]. The last film had Halle Berry attached, but seems to be dead. However, there is a report that the director and actress are moving on to a new project, The Student. Badass Digest [5] says the film is written by Wendy Diane Miller, and that it " is a sexual thriller about a 19 year old kid who takes up a summer internship… and then takes up with his boss’ wife. Things start to get dangerous from there." Halle Berry would play Miranda, aka the boss' wife. It is so easy to see the director working well with this sort of material, and while Halle Berry doesn't inspire the most confidence,...

Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven ("Basic Instinct," "Total Recall") will team with Halle Berry for his next project - "The Student" at Relativity Media reports Bad Ass Digest.
Wendy Diane Miller penned the sexual thriller about a 19 year old kid who takes up a summer internship… and then takes up with his boss’ wife (Berry). Things soon turn dangerous.
Verhoeven and Berry tried to get a project called "The Surrogate" off the ground last year in which Berry would play an evil surrogate mother. That looks to have fallen by the wayside for this.

Paul Verhoeven is charging on with his latest flick, but he may have Halle Berry in his film's grasp. The actress has been offered a role in "The Student," a sexual thriller about a 19 year old kid who takes up a summer internship, and then takes up with his boss' wife. The script was penned by Wendy Diane Miller with Relativity Media behind it all. He previously tried to get another project off the ground with Berry, titled "The Surrogate," but it must have simmered in development for too long to just push the film aside for the time being. Berry recently starred in the drama "Frankie & Alice" which got the actress a Golden Globe award nomination.Source: Badass Digest...

I've been secretly hoping that we would one day see Paul Verhoeven return to his 80's roots and lash out with a violent action-sci-fi movie again, but that seems less and less likely every day. Last year we reported that Verhoeven was working on a "baby mama thriller" called Surrogate that Halle Berry was attached to. Well, Badass Digest says that apparently Surrogate is now dead, or back on the shelf, and Berry/Verhoeven are instead teaming up for a film titled The Student. Staying in his wheelhouse, The Student is a "sexual thriller about a 19 year old kid who takes up a summer internship... and then takes up with his boss' wife." They don't add much else, except that the script was written by newcomer Wendy Diane Miller. Relativity is developing The Student, but no word on if it's slated to start shooting soon or if Verhoeven will lose...

No, it’s not a sequel to Showgirls, but it might be just as fun! Variety reports that Basic Instinct director Paul Verhoeven is in talks to direct an untitled Wendy Miller erotic thriller for Relativity Media. The story centers on a college intern who finds himself trapped in a dangerous affair with the boss’s wife, described as Risky Business meets Fatal Attraction. Michael De Luca is producing via his Sony-based De Luca Prods. banner. Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh and Tucker Tooley are also producing. De Luca Prods.’ Alissa Phillips exec produces. Luber/Roklin Entertainment’s Stephen Crawford, who developed the project with tyro scribe Miller, also will exec produce alongside colleague Matt Luber. Relativity Media, which picked up the script in May, has fast-tracked the project and is eyeing a first-quarter 2009 start date. Miller is penning a rewrite under Verhoeven’s direction. When Paul Verhoeven returned to the silver screen after a six-year absence with Black Book, it felt like a homecoming. The Dutch director made a terrific thriller about the unheralded Dutch resistance during World War II, his first film in his native tongue since he'd left for Hollywood in the 1980s. Now the biographer of Jesus is "in talks" to make an erotic thriller that crosses Risky Business with Fatal Attraction, according to Variety.
The untitled project, written by Wendy Miller, follows "a college intern who finds himself trapped in a dangerous affair with the boss's wife." Will she be a college-aged trophy wife or a middle-aged lady? I'd like the danger to come from the wife herself, like Glenn Close -- wouldn't it be cool if she was a legendary black widow type, boiling rabbits if she doesn't get her way and ready to kill after the first mating?...

Paul Verhoeven re-earned a lot of goodwill with last year's Black Book, a Dutch-language World War II comedy that reminded people of the talent that he seemingly squandered with movies like, well, Showgirls. So now he's taking that restored reputation back to the genre that made him famous with Basic Instinct, planning an erotic thriller that producers describe as Risky Business meets Fatal Attraction. Variety reports that Verhoeven is in talks to direct the untitled screenplay, written by newcomer Wendy Miller. In the story, a college intern embarks on a dangerous affair with his boss's wife. While the story sounds typical, Verhoeven has done a lot with thin plots before, and he's surely looking for an English-language opportunity to prove that, at 70, he's still got it. Give us hell, Paul!

“Basic Instinct” director Paul Verhoeven is in negotiations to helm an untitled erotic thriller written by Wendy Miller, according to Variety.
The plot follows a college intern who’s trapped in a tricky affair with his boss’s wife. That’s all we know about the story line at this point.
Michael De Luca is producing the project, which Relativity Media is developing. Miller is currently rewriting the script, eyeing a production start date early next year.
Verhoeven’s directing credits also include “Showgirls” and “Starship Troopers.” De Luca produced this year’s “21” and “The Love Guru.” He is currently working on Jim Sheridan’s remake “Brothers.”
With a start date scheduled for the beginning of 2009, I’m sure we’ll soon hear more about the casting process for the flick. We will keep you posted.

Paul Verhoeven, the Dutch director responsible for many classic full frontals, is in talks to direct an untitled Wendy Miller-penned erotic thriller about a college intern who gets involved in a torrid love affair with his boss' wife. The project is being described as a cross between Risky Business and Fatal Attraction, a winning combination in my books. Although Verhoeven has sometimes been panned as a director--his Showgirls is widely considered one of the worst films of all time--he...
