Hit Canadian comedy Jann is headed to the U.S. with streamer Hulu. From Andrew Barnsley, executive producer of Schitt’s Creek, the half-hour original comedy stars Canadian singer and broadcaster Jann Arden as a fictionalized version of herself. CTV, Project 10 Productions, and Seven24 Films are behind the series, which was the most-watched new Canadian comedy series in 2018-2019. The deal was struck by Project 10 Productions and Seven24 Films.

UK-based genre sales outfit Devilworks has added two new titles to its slate ahead of the online Marché du Film (June 22-26).
It has acquired worldwide rights to UK supernatural thriller Playhouse, directed, written, and produced by brothers Fionn and Toby Watts.
Shot in Scotland, the thriller centres on a notorious horror writer who moves into an ancient castle with his teenage daughter to work on his next play, only to face terrifying consequences when she falls prey to a supernatural evil lurking in the castle walls.

Roadside Attractions has acquired U.S. distribution rights to The Peanut Butter Falcon, the road trip comedy that stars Shia Labeouf, Dakota Johnson and Zack Gottsagen and won the SXSW audience award this year after its world premiere there. The pic will now hit theaters August 9.

Roadside Attractions has bought U.S. distribution rights to the adventure film, written and directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz.
Labeouf portrays a small-time outlaw and stars alongside Zack Gottsagen, a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from a nursing home to follow his dream of attending the professional wrestling school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church).
Labeouf becomes an unlikely coach and ally as the two characters wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whiskey, find God, and catch fish.
