Lil Green(1919-1954)

Blues/R&B singer Lil Green was born in Mississippi in 1919, and when
she was ten years old her family moved to Chicago, IL. She began her
music career singing in Chicago clubs in the late 1930s. Record
producer Lester Melrose discovered her and signed her to Bluebird
Records in 1939. She worked with
Big Bill Broonzy and his band, and
later with the Tiny Bradshaw band. She
afterwards toured with the Howard Callender Orchestra.
Sbe died in 1954 of pneumonia.
