Today Divine Fits announced their first expansive U.S. tour, which is slated to start in Los Angeles on Sept. 4. The band, which was formed earlier this year, is made up of Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Handsome Furs’ Dan Boeckner and New Bomb Turks’ Sam Brown. The supergroup’s first album, titled A Thing Called Divine Fits, was released last month....

Slowly but surely, Divine Fits are revealing themselves to the music world. The supergroup comprised of Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Handsome Furs’ Dan Boeckner and Sam Brown of the New Bomb Turks originally announced their existence through a mysterious teaser trailer, and over the course of the summer they have debuted their first single, announced an album release and performed live for the first time....

Divine Fits (Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner and New Bomb Turks’ Sam Brown) announced previously that they would play at the Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco in Oct., which was said to be their first gig. But now, the band revealed that their first live concert as Divine Fits will officially take place on Aug. 1, at Beerland in Austin, Texas....

I wasn't sure how I felt about the first offering from the Divine Fits -- the trio-combo of Britt Daniel (Spoon), Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade) and Sam Brown (New Bomb Turks) -- but now I think their forthcoming full-length might be rather nice. "Would That Not Be Nice" definitely scratches the Spoon itch, after the new-wavey minor discotheque of initial offering "My Love Is Real." That latter tune will be up for purchase as a single on July 31 with exclusive non-album B-side "I Was Born In A Laundromat." My Love Is... Clean? The new, as-yet-untitled album from Divine Fits was...

Another week, another music festival lineup revealed. This time it San Francisco's relatively small Treasure Island Fest, offering big name acts for indie rock, hip hop and dance music fans. This year's lineup includes The Xx, M83, Girl Talk, Public Enemy, Gossip and many more. Among the highlights are the new indie supergroup Divine Fits (featuring key members of Spoon, Handsome Furs/Wolf Parade and New Bomb Turks), the dreamy Youth Lagoon, Aussie electronic duo The Presets, California tour guides Best Coast, genre-bender Grimes, Sf's legendary Imperial Teen and garage god Ty Segall. Britain's The Xx, presumably headlining Night Two, are returning...

Mathematically speaking, the formula used to form a supergroup seems like sound logic. Add one talented musician to another, and watch their success rate multiply. But if supergroup history tells us anything, it’s that arithmetic precision has little to do with creative collaborations. If it really worked that way, Slash’s Snakepit would have yielded better results. Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner, and New Bomb Turks' Sam Brown have combined their talents to produce a much more favorable outcome. When the three become one they go by the name Divine Fits, and have just announced ...

The powers of Spoon, Wolf Parade/Handsome Furs, and New Bomb Turks (drummer Sam Brown is the third member) will combine to form Divine Fits, as they are now together known. The trio is planning an album for later this year, but there's no music to speak of yet (look at this fancy website, though!). Anyway, one Boeckner project out, one Boeckner project in; this is how the universe stays balanced and stuff. ...

Get ready for another indie rock supergroup. Spoon's Britt Daniel, Wolf Parade's Dan Boeckner and former New Bomb Turks drummer Sam Brown are joining forces to become Divine Fits. The group's as yet untitled debut album will be released later this year on Merge Records, longtime home to Spoon, Arcade Fire, New Pornographers, Fucked Up and numerous other bands. Post-punk production guru Nick Launay (Gang of Four, PiL, Kate Bush) recorded the album. There's little information available about the album or any touring plans. Keep up-to-date at the band's web site here. Divine Fits should have an interesting sound, since all...

Now that Dan Boeckner currently is free of his obligations to Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs, and Britt Daniel is between albums with Spoon, these two cool indie-rock fellas have decided to form a new band with Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks. The band is called Divine Fits, and its debut record will be out later this year on Merge Records. That's all we know for now, but you can learn more at the band's website and Twitter page as information becomes available.

Before we dive into the first installment of “Now & Then”, I want to just take a few moments to explain exactly what it is. In “Now & Then” movies, both horror and non-horror will be analyzed from the point of view of seeing the film at a younger age and then the point of view of watching it in the present. The movie I have chosen for the first installment is a movie that is very important to me and influenced me immensely growing up the 1996 independent classic Glory Daze from writer/director Rich Wilkes.
Glory Daze is the story of a group of tight knit friends in college who find themselves two days away from graduation. Jack (Ben Affleck) is starting to panic as he starts to contemplate what the future holds for him and begins to worry that the last few years were the high point and everything else...
