It is Mortal Kombat week as the new video game arrives from Warner Bros. Taking advantage of the buzz, the two theatrical films based on the game are being re-released on Blu-ray as well.
The first Mortal Kombat was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and stars Christopher Lambert, Robin Shou, Linden Ashby and Bridgette Wilson while the sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, was directed by John R. Leonetti and stars Robin Shou, Talisa Soto and James Remar.
If you need help with the gameplay, don't forget the Mortal Kombat Prima Official Game Guide, both paperback and hardcover editions.
Don't fret; there are a couple other less-than-notable horror titles dropping this week, too. You can decide for yourselves if Tokyo Gore Police and Hyenas are worth the space on your library shelf.

What happens when you combine "Animal House," "Freaks and Geeks," and "Greek" -- then shake it up and pour it into a beer bong so massive it's referred to as The Beast?
You get TBS's newest hour-long comedy, "Glory Daze," about the perils of being a college freshman in 1986. Zap2it stopped by the Pasadena set of the new series to chat with the hilarious stars and take a step back into the '80s.
"Glory Daze" follows four students in particular as they pledge the Omega Sig frat house, where beer flows from the sink taps and bad guacamole is the darkest of sins.
Joel Harrington is played by Kelly Blatz, "Joel grew up pretty sheltered in this all-boys Catholic school," Blatz says. "His dad has always wanted him to be a doctor.
He's from a very middle class family, and his dad worked hard to get him to go to college.

Graphic Novels are a booming business, offering substantial, self-contained stories in comic-strip style.
Some may be collections of separate comic book issues, while others feature stories written only for this format that are outside the usual superhero, sci-fi or fantasy genres.
One of the latest entries is Day of the Deal, published by Coventry writer/artist Jason Wilson. There are no superheroes or sci-fi in this book; it's a comedy crime drama about a major drugs delivery to a Midlands town that goes disastrously wrong.
A review has described it as "an entirely terrific tale of ordinary people's wrongdoings and the price that's paid."
The story is close to Jason's heart. In April, his dad Anthony Spencer was jailed as the ringleader of a gang plotting to flood Coventry and neighbouring Warwickshire with huge quantities of amphetamines and cannabis from the Netherlands.
Spencer, 61, of Keresley, was jailed for five years...

Jason Wilson is the spirits writer for The Washington Post, which means he gets paid to fly to Europe and get drunk. It sounds like a dream job, and Wilson is well aware; in the self-effacing introduction to Boozehound: On The Trail Of The Rare, The Obscure, And The Overrated In Spirits, he jokes that he’s sure the fact that he and his friends are termed “lifestyle columnists” is probably a sign of the impending apocalypse. But as long as the economy can still make it economically viable for a newspaper to pay someone to visit Milan for the ...
