Japanese pay-tv group, Wowow has greenlighted a third season of its local adaptation of U.S. hit series “Cold Case.” It is expected to premiere in winter 2020.
The announcement follows agreement with licensor Warner Bros. International Television Production. The new season, titled “Cold Case: The Door to the Truth”, stars Yoshida Yo, Nagayama Kento, Takito Kenichi, Mitsuishi Ken and Miura Tomokazu. Directors include Takafumi Hatano, Akira Uchikata and Toshiyuki Morishita.
“In Season 3, the solidarity of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Investigation Division 1 led by Yuri Ishikawa (played by Yo Yoshida) is put to test as they reveal the truth behind cases buried in the darkness,” Wowow said.

The official website for the second of Takafumi Hatano’s 2-part theatrical continuation of the popular Sp (Security Police) TV drama has been updated with a full trailer.
Details of the film’s story are fairly vague right now; but that may be by design. It would take nothing less than an impenetrable wall of text to explain all the events from the TV drama and first film that led up to this.
Plot: A group of career bureaucrats carry out secret activities that threaten to undermine the public welfare. Even the chief secretary of the ruling party, Date (Teruyuki Kagawa) is involved. Additionally, a terrorism task force consisting of Sasamoto (Yoko Maki), Yamamoto (Satoshi Matsuo), and Ishida (Yu Kamio) are poised to make their move. What was the meaning behind Ogata’s (Shinichi Tsutsumi) cryptic statement? And what is his true aim?

A 30-second teaser for Takafumi Hatano‘s upcoming 2-part “Sp” (Security Police) theatrical release premiered in Japanese theaters on June 12th.
The film picks up after the events of the 11-episode drama series which aired on Fuji TV from November 2007 - January 2008. Junichi Okada reprises his role as young security police member Kaoru Inoue. The security police are tasked with guarding VIPs from assassination attempts with their own lives if necessary and are the last line of defense against terrorist plots. Although young, Inoue has exhibited innate skills, such as his photographic memory, which elevate him above his peers.
Plot: “It couldn’t be helped… It was for the greater good.” Those words from Ogata (Shinichi Tsutsumi) still fill Inoue with confusion and suspicion. It is now one month later, and Tokyo has become a hotbed of terrorist plots that threaten to rock the very foundation of Japan’s political system,...
