- Karel Cáslavský was born on January 28, 1937 in Lipnice nad Sázavou, Czechoslovakia [now Czech Republic]. He was a writer and assistant director, known for Smrt si ríká Engelchen (1963), I Served the King of England (2006) and All My Loved Ones (1999). He died on January 2, 2013 in Prague, Czech Republic.

- He had a wife called Julie who passed away in 2006. He had a son named Peter and a daughter named Helen.
- He graduated from Central Film School, he joined the Barrandov Film Studios as a production assistant and later worked as an assistant director in films like Death says Engelchen or the June days.
