It might not just be the new CSIs in Season 2 of the sequel to the long-running hit. Marg Helgenberger, who played Catherine Willows in the original CSI for 12 seasons, is “in talks” to return to the franchise, TVLine reports. This possible return comes after it was announced the two original series stars who appeared in the first season of CSI: Vegas — William Petersen and Jorja Fox — will not be back. When Fox’s Sara Sidle returned to Las Vegas in the sequel’s premiere, following an attack on Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle), she told him, “Catherine has rolled out a red carpet. She would be here, you know that, if she could.” Jim agreed, “she’s got a little grandbaby in Dublin.” So if Helgenberger does sign on, what might bring Catherine back to Vegas? Could it be the new serial killer introduced at the end of the Season 1 finale?...

2021 has been the year of revivals and reboots. Working in TV seemed like we were always announcing another reboot or revival of a classic sitcom or cult favorite.
Some we felt we'd been waiting for years (CSI: Vegas), and others we didn't know we needed that reboot (The Wonder Years).
TV Fanatic staff compiled a list of the revivals and reboots of 2021, and we enjoyed almost all of them on this list. Only one was an absolute miss.
Which one of these shows were you glad to see return?
Which ones did you wish stayed gone and buried?
Dexter: New Blood (Showtime)-Best
Dexter: New Blood is a bit of a slow burn but worth every flame. Dexter: New Blood is a welcome return for fans and newbies alike.
Ties to the past are haunting while the new characters intermingle with chill. Clancy Brown adds major creep-factor, as per usual,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for CSI: Vegas Episode 8 “Pipe Cleaner.”] Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome) may have been demoted and suspended from the Crime Lab, but she could have still found the break they need in the season-long case to prove Anson Wix (Jamie McShane) is the one behind framing David Hodges (Wallace Langham) for evidence tampering. In the latest CSI: Vegas episode, she continues to work from home, enlisting Joshua Folsom’s (Matt Lauria) help. By the end, they’ve found the link between Anson Wix and the hitman he hired to go after Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) in the premiere. And if he doesn’t help them take down Wix, well, Maxine took a photo of him in the middle of a drug deal. “It gives us a lot of leverage,” Lauria tells TV Insider. What’s next? He teases what’s ahead in the final two episodes of the season. How big of...

The CSI crime show has been revived, and this time it’s being headed by Maxine Roby( Paula Newsome.) She even got fan favorites, Gil Grissom (William Peterson) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) to return when crimes affected two of their old friends Jim Brass and David Hodges.
Newsome has starred on many crime dramas, including ABC’s Women’s Murder Club, CBS’s NCIS, and Showtime’s Barry, but she experienced many firsts with CSI Vegas.
TV Fanatic chatted with Paula about learning the new technology, building a rapport with her castmates, and how certain cases affected Maxine. We also learned when Maxine’s son will show up.

CBS this Wednesday mined familiar territory with the debut of CSI: Vegas, the franchise’s first offshoot in six-and-a-half years. Counting Jorja Fox and William Petersen among its ranks, did the spinoff offer a satisfying mix of familiar and new?
CSI: Vegas is set in motion by an attempt on the life of former Lvpd Captain Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle), who now lives with Fuchs corneal disease. Brass puts a few bullets into his attacker, though the mystery of who hired the killer looms large. Brass rings friend/former CSI Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), who drives up from San Diego...

Las Vegas feels like home again in this latest entry in TV's ongoing revival/reboot trend.
CSI: Vegas Season 1 Episode 1 reveals this new iteration to be a hybrid, a mix of new and old.
Probably the best comparison would be TNT's three-season revival of Dallas, in which having a handful of the original series' stars gave it soap cred.
CSI: Vegas takes a similar approach, with four characters from CSI returning for the new series.
(The show's Ptb said that other characters could make appearances in the future, so cross your fingers for your favorite.)
Surprisingly, kicking things off was Jim Brass, who resigned after CSI Season 14 to be there for his troubled (to be kind) stepdaughter Ellie.
Sure, Brass returned for the 2015 finale movie, at which time he was a casino security officer. Still, since that character was written out after 14 seasons, using him to introduce the new...

For one thing, Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) has been suffering from Fuchs corneal disease, though keeping the sad sitch to himself. Oh, and as alluded to in the clip above, he has been the target of a death threat.

A few CSI originals are once again reporting for duty, and this time, they’re joining some new blood.
The latest trailer for this fall’s CSI: Vegas dropped Sunday, and in the upcoming sequel series (which premieres Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 10/9c on CBS), the reputation of the team’s work is on the line. “Every case, every defendant that was put away with evidence from our lab has been called into question,” says Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) in the clip. Has a series of mistakes been discovered, and has the lab been party to criminal malfeasance? Those are the...

“CSI: Vegas” star William Petersen was briefly hospitalized on Friday after feeling unwell on the set of the sequel series, Variety has confirmed.
However, a representative for Petersen says the 68-year-old actor was taken to the hospital “as a precautionary measure,” as he has been exhausted from working long hours on the set of the show for the past 12 weeks. As TMZ first reported, Petersen is now out of the hospital and is recovering. Representatives for CBS Studios did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.
Petersen is reprising his role as Gil Grissom from the long-running show “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” in the new series, which is set to premiere on CBS Oct. 6. Petersen is also an executive producer on “CSI: Vegas,” as he was on the original “CSI.” For his work on “CSI,” Petersen won a Screen Actors Guild award, was nominated for a Golden Globe...

CBS is reopening the case on CSI this fall with CSI: Vegas.
The network has now dropped a teaser trailer, narrated by Gil Grissom (William Petersen), in which he says that the truth doesn't lie.
It never has, but it will be fun to see a new side to Gil and how the world of forensics has changed since the original series signed off.
Jorja Fox and Wallace Langham are back as Sara Sidle and David Hodges, respectively, while Paul Guilfoyle is set to guest star as Jim Brass, but there's much debate about whether he will still be the Captain.
The new cast includes Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights), Paula Newsome (Chicago Med), Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth), and Mandeep Dhillon (After Life).
CSI: Vegas “opens a brand new chapter in Las Vegas, the city where it all began,” the official logline reads.

The number of original CSI cast members appearing on CBS' forthcoming revival has increased.
Per Deadline, Paul Guilfoyle is the latest cast member locked in.
The actor played Jim Brass on the original series and will join fellow franchise vets William Petersen (Gil), Jorja Fox (Sara), and Wallace Langham (Hodges).
But there's quite the caveat involved with this casting news:
Petersen, Fox, and Langham are all set as series regulars on CSI: Vegas, but Guilfoyle is only set to appear in two episodes.
Still, it's nice to know that fans will be getting to catch up with the character on the new series.
Guilfoyle was a pivotal part of CSI when it launched, staying with the show for 14 seasons, exiting ahead of CSI Season 15, which was the final season.
The series is bringing in a wealth of new blood, including Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights), Paula Newsome (Chicago Med), Mel Rodriguez...
