All of Karen’s relationships are complicated on Tyler Perry’s Sistas. Now that her on-again-off-again romance with Zac is officially over, Aaron has swooped in to ask for her hand in marriage.
But Karen didn’t take the minister’s proposal seriously, as fans saw in the Season 3 midseason finale, and she turned down the romantic gesture from Aaron (Burn Notice‘s Kevin A. Walton) — and his way of putting an end to their “sinful” premarital sex. Ebony Obsidian, who plays Karen, says viewers will better understand her character’s polite rejection when the BET drama returns Wednesday, Oct.

BET is closing out the summer with a block of original feature films, including the Taryn Manning lightning rod “Karen.”
Titled “Summer of Chills,” the slate of suspense thrillers includes three BET original movies and the linear debut of two titles from streaming service BET Plus.
Stars including Paula Patton, Lauren London, LisaRaye McCoy, Loretta Devine, Wood Harris, V. Bozeman, Columbus Short, Deborah Cox, Anthony Hamilton and Ledisi.
“Karen,” a suspense thriller about an entitled and twisted racist woman who comes undone after a Black couple moves into the McMansion next door, will air on Sept. 14. An early look at the title, a pejorative term for toxic white women who’d like to speak to the manager, caused a stir on social media and drew comparisons to Jordan Peele’s “Get Out.”

A few years ago, Tyler Perry signed a big deal with Viacom, which owns the BET channel. He also knows how to write and film TV shows quickly and on a budget. And, perhaps most importantly right now, his studio was the first to be able to film a whole season of a drama series safely during the age of Covid-19. No matter what happens with the ratings, it's difficult to imagine that Tyler Perry's Sistas TV show would be cancelled in this current climate. How soon will it be renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.

Exclusive: BET has picked up a third season of Tyler Perry’s Sistas, cable’s No.1 series among Black viewers in the key adults 18-49 demographic.
The renewal comes ahead of Sistas’ midseason premiere on Jan. 27. Production on season 3 is slated to start at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta at the end of the month, six months after the show’s second season wrapped at the studio. It marked the first completed season of a TV series produced entirely during Covid. Perry used a quarantine bubble at his sprawling studio complex to successfully shoot new episodes of his four BET/BET+ series. Renewals for other Perry shows, more notably The Oval, will likely follow.
For two consecutive seasons, Sistas has been a strong ratings performer. The series’ second season ranks as the No. 1 series in the 18-49 demo for African Americans on cable. Both Season 1 and Season 2 also have ranked as the No.
