James Komen is both a problem solver and a manager. Growing up in
Northern Virginia, he attended the academically top-ranking Thomas
Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. His math and science
background trained him in the art of problem solving. Additionally, he
utilized the school's video technology lab, making several short films
and a slew of advertisement spots. James is a 2nd generation USC film
student. His father, Edwin Komen, now practices entertainment law.
Edwin introduced James to critical film analysis at a young age,
inspiring the young man to pursue a career in the film industry.
Currently, (Summer 2009) James is enrolled in the Film and Television
Critical Studies undergraduate program at USC. Supplementing his
studies, James works as a 1st AD on USC graduate thesis projects. He is
also a part-owner of One Rose Productions, a small film-equipment
rental business. Both of these practices have honed his skills as a
leader and a manager. His knowledge of film making as a craft and his
impeccable sense of time make him a valuable asset to any production.
