Since recently, there has been an influx of Indian crime documentaries. With Netflix starting to bring in stories from across the country, it is interesting to see how many of these crime-related stories are quickly forgotten in a matter of months. Thanks to the Ott platforms, many of these are being brought to the limelight, giving us an insight into how the investigation was carried out and who was involved. These stories get us in touch with the true heroes who do the groundwork and get to the endpoint. There are journalists, police officers, and families of the victims involved who gather the courage to talk about it on the screen, probably after years. A Prime Video Original brings you a new true crime documentary series, “Dancing on the Grave,” directed by Patrick Graham, that takes the audience through the murder of a woman from an aristocratic background and the investigation that unfolded.

Amazon Prime’s new series, Dancing on The Grave, tries to bring the Richmond Road case back into the limelight. The series is one of the latest in the ever-growing genre of true crime. “Betaal” – original Netflix mini-series influenced by local legends and myths, but also by the forgotten god of dread described in Somdev Bhatt’s storybooks from 11th century, is the first proper Indian attempt at the zombie genre. Spiked with social criticism, the show offers more than just snapping jaws of the undead, who happen to be the former British colonialists.

Netflix has ordered five new originals out of India with Hollywood producers including Blumhouse and Chernin Entertainment getting in on the action.
The Svod service is doubling down on its scripted drive in the region – following the success of titles such as Delhi Crime and Selection Day.
Over the next twelve months, it will launch Bombay Begums, Mai, Betaal, Messy and Masaba Masaba.
Bombay Begums, executive produced by Chernin Entertainment and Endemol Shine India, is a story set in contemporary urban India that sees five women, across generations, wrestle with desire, ethics, personal crises and vulnerabilities to own their ambition. As glass ceilings are shattered and hearts are broken, difficult choices have to be made. And as each woman strives to find her own truth, they find in each other an unexpected understanding and the sliver of a bond. It was created, written and directed by Alankrita Shrivastava.

NetflixIn this terrifying dystopian world divided by religion, Radhika Apte plays a convincing interrogation officer.Saraswati DatarWhat if a prisoner enters a frightening detention centre but ends up being scarier than anything or anyone its blood-soaked walls and floors have seen before? That’s the premise British filmmaker Patrick Graham set out with over four years ago when he first developed the concept of Ghoul. The second Netflix original from India, Ghoul is jointly produced by Blumhouse Productions, Ivanhoe Pictures and India's Phantom Films (Sacred Games). Set in a not so distant but definitely dystopian future, Ghoul establishes a country, presumably India, where cities are divided into religious zones. Nationalistic fervour is slowly morphing into a paranoid psychosis, and the lines between the protector and the persecutor have all but blurred. The government or the military power that rules this nation has laid down strict diktats which control every aspect of its citizen’s lives.
