A horrifying incident two years ago involving a friend of Mirko Grillini gave the writer/producer/actor an idea for a psychological thriller with supernatural elements.
Entitled Lies Never Die, the plot follows Sarah Peterson,. a successful homeopath who with her husband Rick returns to the town where she was born to try out a new treatment in an old mental hospital. A terrifying presence begins to infiltrate their house and to influence their lives.
The Italian-born Mirko and his production designer wife Amanda, who operate as Diciotto Productions, attached Us directors Lydelle Jackson and Cezil Reed after meeting them at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Negotiations are underway with a Us actress to play Sarah. Luke McKenzie (Wentworth, Winners & Losers, Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead) will play Rick, a skilled chef who hides a terrible secret.

New projects from Larry Fessenden, Rkss and John McNaughton among line-up at sixth edition, taking place July 23-26 in Montreal.
Having announced a first wave during Cannes, Frontières International Co-Production Market has unveiled the full line-up for its upcoming sixth edition.
Among the additional projects announced are The Designer from Glass Eye Pix (Larry Fessenden, Peter Phok, Graham Reznick), Todd E. Freeman’s The Beautiful, Enric Folch’s Duel documentary The Devil on Wheels and Huan Vu’s H.P. Lovecraft’s adaptation The Dreamlands.
They join the already announced projects from the likes of John McNaughton (Carny Kill), Turbo Kid film-makers Rkss (Elora) and Srdjan Spasojevic (Whereout).
Frontières will run July 23-26 at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, following its second European edition at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (Bifff) in April.

Not to be confused with the Lydelle Jackson and Cezil Reed flick of the same name, word has just hit the wire that X-Men director Bryan Singer is producing a new low-budget thriller from Adam Robitel entitled The Taking. Read on for details.
The Robitel-directed thriller shot quietly in North Carolina this week. The film, also written by Robitel and Gavin Heffernan (The Steaks), centers on the supernatural happenings in a small Southern community. Further plot details are being kept under wraps.
Singer kept The Taking quiet. It’s Robitel’s feature directing debut, a character-driven project that Singer produced through his Bad Hat Harry shingle. Jeff Rice is also a producer, and executive producers are Jason Taylor and Jonathan Stein, Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell, Rene Besson, Luke Daniels, Alex Cutler, and Dana Guerin. Nu Image/Millennium Films is handling worldwide sales.
