Jean M. Babonneau, french camera-based artist, unit still photographer, director of photography (d.o.p.) and director, was born in Bretagne, France and spent 5 childhood years in Germany. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Nantes (BFA) and from the French National School of Photography (MFA) and being the darkroom printer for Lucien Clergue, Picasso-photographer, film director and co-founder of the international photography festival Les Rencontres d'Arles, he started his professional career in Reykjavik, Iceland, where he worked for 3 years before settling in Copenhagen, Denmark. Besides creating and directing his own short films, music videos and video installations, Jean M. Babonneau worked as a still-photographer on the Icelandic long-feature movie A Man Like Me (2002) and Danish short-feature films like The Day After (2009) and Et hus af glas (2010).
