Pat Shand is a prolific writer and editor of comics and prose novels. In the past year, Pat launched his own publishing arm, Space Between Entertainment, to launch new graphic novel series including Destiny, NY which had a successful Kickstarter for its first volume last fall.
With the Kickstarter for Destiny, NY Volume 2 just one month away, I talked with Pat Shand about this new volume, running a publishing arm and using crowdfunding to make it all happen.
Jc: The first volume of Destiny, NY wraps up nicely with a pretty happy ending. Can you tell us a bit about where the story is going in Volume Two? Any new characters or developments people can look forward to seeing unfold?
Ps: With the first volume, we introduced this world where magic is a real and accepted part of everyday life. It’s mundane, to an extent. Logan is our lead character,...

Last week, PBS Digital Studios (Pbsds) announced it had partnered with the Interactive Engagement Group of PBS-owned New York news station Wnet to produce the Lgbtq-themed web series First Person. Now, the two companies have debuted the first episode called “Trans 2.0” featuring YouTuber Skylar Kergil.
The premiere episode of First Person shows viewers the story of Kergil, who started documenting his transgender journey back in 2009 on YouTube. The artist tells First Person host and Everyone Is Gay founder Kristin Russo how he didn’t necessarily intend to become a voice for the trans community, but found that’s where his vlogging took him. Kergil currently boasts over 64,000 subscribers on his channel.
In addition to Kergil, First Person will profile other Lgbtq-related personalities like Kate Fagan, an Espn correspondent, and fashion icon Nicolette Mason. The series is produced by Russo and Meredith Heil, and Wnet Interactive Engagement Group’s Daniel B. Greenberg...

Folk singer Jenny Owen Youngs made two big announcements last week. Not only did she come out as gay, but she also revealed she is engaged to be married!
Youngs, 31, came out of the closet Wednesday in a blog post on Everyone Is Gay, Towleroad reported. The New Jersey native, who refers to herself as "super gay," said she didn't want to come out because she doesn't want "coming out to be a thing that anyone has to do." She wishes sexual orientation was just something as unremarkable as hair color.
"However, I’ve come to realize in recent months that a big part of my desire to hide this aspect of myself was rooted in those dusty old feelings: that there is something wrong, something bad, something less-than about being gay," she wrote.
Ultimately, she decided to share her story for those who might be struggling.
