It’s hard to hate on bass house – especially when the track in question brings something new to the table. Chocolate Puma have secured their spot as one of the leading purveyors of the up-and-coming genre, and their latest track, “Popatron,” makes for an inspired contribution to their growing legacy.
Featuring percussive elements that give it the feel of an electro house track, “Popatron” also has a noisier wobble in its arrangement than what you might expect from a run-of-the-mill bass house track. The result is a sound tailored more for the main stage than an after hours lounge despite having been built around the overall structure of a four-four track.
Seeing as how their last original was a G house track that they put together with Tommie Sunshine two months ago, perhaps their new effort indicates a slight tweak in creative direction for the Dutch duo.

Among the numerous festivals that take place during the month of July, Lollapalooza may be the historically richest. Having taken place off and on in different formats since 1991, the event series has succeeded in propelling a variety of artists into the mainstream spotlight. While superstar DJ/producer Kaskade may not necessarily be one of them, he does hail from the festival’s hometown of Chicago – and he played a set at this year’s installment that absolutely brought the house down.
We haven’t exactly been celebratory of all of Kaskade’s recent material, but when it comes to tearing it up on the decks, his recent performance demonstrates that he still knows how to get a crowd hopping. Studded with favorites like “Room for Happiness” and “Atmosphere,” the mix did contain a few of his less-deserving tracks – like his remix of Jack Ü’s “Where Are Ü Now,” for instance.

Fresh from a successful first night out in Austin on Wednesday for SXSW, Brooklyn-based electro-pop duo Ghost Beach (Josh Ocean and Eric "Doc" Mendelsohn) were at it again on Thursday, indulging in local dining delights and partying with some of their favorite musician pals. The guys continue to document their experience exclusively for People readers, as they chow down on tacos and party with other up-and-coming talent at the festival. "For an artist, one of the best parts of SXSW is seeing a lot of friends that you don't get to see when you are out touring," Ocean says. "Yesterday...

Nashville, Tenn. — Chances are you never heard of Al Walser before his surprise Grammy nomination for best dance recording. Even more surprising? Neither had most Grammy voters.
For the second year in a row, the Grammys are facing criticism for allowing a nominee in a field where some say he lacks credibility. Walser's inclusion along with better-known artists Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris and Skrillex set off complaints about The Recording Academy's Grammy365 social media platform that allows members to lobby each other when it comes time to vote.
Critics pointed out the problem when little-known singer-songwriter Linda Chorney scored a nomination in the Americana category last year and took up the cry again this year when Walser's "I Can't Live Without You" popped up in the dance category.
"I think the Grammys need to take a hard look at their infrastructure to make sure that something this disgraceful doesn't happen again,...

Swedish House Mafia have added a new date to their swan song. Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell will stop by New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on Feb. 28, the night of their newly announced Black Tie Rave.
The one night-only event will benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. Tickets for the event will be auctioned off on Ticketmaster, beginning Dec. 14th at 10 a.m. Est. Starting bids are set at $100. A press release for the event said 100 percent of the net proceeds from the evening will be handed over to the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City and the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.
"This time last year we were about to play Msg for the first time and that opened so many doors," Ingrosso told The Huffington Post. "When we grew up, house music from NYC was king. We had to do it. And, to be honest, playing to...
