- Mr. Smith has more than 17 years experience in entrepreneurial and corporate ventures. Launching Yoyo Zone at the age of 21, the company had multiple locations on the East Coast and eventually began manufacturing its own brand, selling to major retail chains such as Toys "R" Us, Walmart and KB Toys.
His next jump was to Fortune 100 global powerhouse Nokia Mobile Phones. He spent six years in sales where he managed carriers sales and went on to become director of sales for Sprint national account. This is where he developed his fundamentals of creating value proposition for Nokia key partners such as ATT and Sprint that aligned with both companies objectives.
Co-founded Kono Media in 2006. It become the 4th largest kids magazine in the country and the fastest growing kids magazine in the U.S with national distribution in Barnes and Noble, Borders and Blockbuster. Kono became a media company that focused acquiring popular kids intellectual property.
Napoleon Smith orchestrated the purchase of one of the largest kids IP "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" with private equity and financial partners of Kono media. He went on to sell the company that held the movie rights to Viacom and Nickelodeon. Other intellectual properties that were acquired and sold was Jackson Family Story. The books right sold to Simon and Schuster and movie right sold to independent film company.
Smith is currently the Executive Producer on Michael Bay's "Ninja Turtles" 2014 with Paramount Pictures. His production company is currently co-producing it with Paramount Picture, Nickelodeon and Michael Bay.
