Olivia Rusk was born on January 28, 1997 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Olivia is totally bald due to the medical condition, Alopecia. When she
was only 8 yrs old, she shed her custom wig and bravely marched into
her 3rd grade classroom without hair. That day changed her life
forever. What began as Olivia's desire to be "herself", quickly evolved
into Olivia's message that "It's Okay to be Different", anti-bullying
and teen suicide prevention. In 2007, Olivia co-founded Olivia's Cause
with her mom. Soon after she launched a lecture program where she has
shared her story with literally thousands of kids/teens through out
Central Indiana. She is a Kidcaster for Radio Disney 98.3 FM
Indianapolis, a teen motivational speaker, teen author and has appeared
on television, the radio, in newspapers and in magazines. In February
2012, Olivia appeared on The Today Show with Hoda and Kathy Lee to
promote her book, "Just Your Average Teenager, Who Happens To Be Bald"
Olivia is also the winner of the 2009 Power of Children Award from The
Indianapolis Children's Museum, the 2010 Driven Like Danica Contest
from Danica Patrick, the 2011 Well Dunn Award from Coach Lin Dunn, the
2012 Jefferson Award from WRTV, Channel 6 News and was just selected by
Seventeen Magazine as their Pretty Amazing Girl of the Week.
