Nearly two years after the second season of HBO’s crown jewel “Succession” delivered a jaw-dropping finale, the Emmy-winning corporate drama is back on October 17. The third season of the Emmy winner picks up after Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) dropped a bombshell gauntlet pitting him against power-hungry patriarch Logan (Brian Cox). Watch the official full trailer for Season 3 below.
Per HBO, this season’s official logline hints at lots of drama to come: “Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall at the end of Season 2, Logan Roy begins Season 3 in a perilous position, scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances. Tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.”
This new look at Season 3 delivers plenty of classic Roy moments featuring your favorite cast members, including Sarah Snook as Shiv, Kieran Culkin as Roman, Matthew Macfayden as Tom Wambsgans, and Nicholas Braun as Cousin Greg.

HBO’s Emmy winner “Succession” is confirmed to be making its long-awaited return for Season 3 this October, but don’t expect to see the Roy family navigating the pandemic when the new season begins. While many series on television and streaming platforms have found ways to incorporate the pandemic, “Succession” Season 3 will sidestep Covid and carry on business as usual. Creator Jesse Armstrong wrote the third season before the pandemic and did not change the scripts during it.
A new report from Vulture on “Succession” Season 3 confirms: “[Creator Jesse] Armstrong decided early on that the season’s finished scripts wouldn’t be rewritten to incorporate the ongoing pandemic. ‘These are really wealthy people,’ says [Shiv Roy actress] Sarah Snook. ‘And unfortunately, none of the world’s really wealthy people were going to be affected by the pandemic.'”
“Succesion” Season 3 won’t tackle Covid, but Covid directly affected the series. As the Vulture report continues: “In March 2020, Mark Blum,...

Few shows’ schedules were hit harder by the coronavirus pandemic than HBO’s Emmy-award winning drama Succession. As recounted in a sprawling (and superb) New Yorker piece, season 3 of the beloved satire about the wealthy Roy family was set to begin filming in April of 2020 before the pandemic upended the those plans.
According to the series creator and showrunner Jesse Armstrong, HBO executives encouraged him to wait things out until they could have as normal a filming experience as possible “rather than have Logan do a series of Webinars we can put out on HBO Max.” The wait paid off as HBO announced today that Succession season 3 will be arriving in full this October. The network didn’t nail down a specific date yet but let it be known that Sunday, October 17 (the week after Indigenous Peoples Day) looks pretty juicy.
