Exclusive: Luke Tennie (Shrinking) has boarded Oscar nom RaMell Ross’ feature The Nickel Boys, based on Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer-winning novel of the same name.
The film from MGM’s Orion Pictures is based on the true story of a Florida reform school that damaged the lives of thousands of children over more than a century. Its protagonist is Elwood Curtis, a Black boy growing up in 1960s Tallahassee who is unfairly sentenced to a juvenile reformatory called the Nickel Academy, then finding himself trapped in a grotesque chamber of horrors.
Tennie will play Griff, a student boxer at Nickel Academy. He joins an ensemble including Aunjanue Ellis, Ethan Herisse, Brandon Wilson, Hamish Linklater and Fred Hechinger. Ross and Louverture Films’ Joslyn Barnes adapted the screenplay. Plan B Entertainment, Anonymous Content and Barnes are producing, with Whitehead serving as exec producer.

Seriously, are you suggesting that we don't?
Jessica M. Bair is the producer of the new horror film Blood Fare, which she describes as a "fast-paced, fun, and suspenseful ghost story, with a plot around the 150th anniversary of the Us Civil War, which we celebrate next year."
Blood Fare is the 4th independent genre feature film of lesbian filmmaker J.A. Steel.
Sultry comedian Bridget McManus, who will play 'Kayla', probably a villainess.
The film, which is in production, stars Gil Gerard (of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century fame) as Professor Meade, mentor to the protagonist Tyler, a lesbian PhD student in a committed relationship. Also joining the cast are three celebrity lesbians (celebrians? lesebrities?): Michelle Wolff (Dante’s Cove), Bridget McManus (Logo’s “That Time of the Month”) and Natalie Garcia (Showtime’s "The Real L Word" Live Lounge.)

Seriously? Some one is actually going to ask me if I'm going to have another Lesbian Main character in my lastest cheese fest, Blood Fare? Really? I thought we moved past questions like this when I released my third feature film Denizen on IndieFlix.
As you recall, the character of Deacon was a married lesbian who kicked some serious creature tushie. The straight critics actually Liked the movie. I think the formula works. So I'm sticking to it. At least for now. Now I just need a hot lesbian to play the main character...know any hot lesbians? Send them my way. We're talking chicks that the DoorQ's can admire and that would make the ladies and straight boys drool. I'm too old for this "main character" stuff...so don't let it even cross your mind. I'm sticking behind the camera on this one.
We are shooting Blood Fare in yes,...

I have decided that I have some screws severely loose. I started my first feature film, "The Third Society" nearly 11 years ago. It took me almost 4 years to finish it. I told myself never again, but movies are like tattoos, some of us enjoy the pain. I've done two other features, "Salvation" and "Denizen" in the years following "The Third Society." I always tell myself "never again" and then I end up making yet another movie. A couple weeks ago I got a wild idea to use a Civil War re-enactment group in the telling of a modern day Civil War ghost story...and my 4th feature, "Blood Fare" was born.
Script written? Check. What format are we going to shoot it in? HD of course silly. Uh, which camera? Then came the scramble to figure out what to shoot it with. I spent hours online pouring over reviews, specs,...

Outlantacon. Outlantacon…Soooooo much fun. We screened Denizen at the second annual Lgbt geekstravaganza in Atlanta at “Outlantacon.” It was really cool. I went with Jessica M. Bair who works with me over at Tunis Productions. We flew out Thursday from Los Angeles. As always our flight was delayed, but we got word in time to fest director Edward DeGruy that we were going to be late. It was really cool, he met us at the airport with a groovy rainbow sign that read “J.A. Steel Outlantacon”. He then drove Jess and I to the Hotel where the convention was being held, the Holiday Inn – Perimeter in Atlanta. Being the publicity whore that I am, I talked the whole drive to the Hotel to reporter Dyana Bagley at “The Georgia Voice”.
Since I am always constantly hungry, after we checked in and dropped our bags, Ed ran me to Burger King.
