Exclusive: Kyle Newacheck is attached to direct the action comedy Ice Cold Heat for Lionsgate Pictures and Montecito Picture Company.
The story, penned by Josh Kazdan and Eric Lord, is about an ambitious detective from the early 1990s who is cryogenically frozen by a powerful drug dealer after a drug bust that went upside down. The detective thaws out 22 years later and then seeks revenge. Because he was frozen, he remains young while his son is now a cop in his old unit and close to the same age.
Peter Fried is the point person inside Montecito on the project as are the company’s Tom Pollock, Ivan Reitman and Amie Karp.
Newacheck, whose credits in television include Workaholics and Adam Devine’s House Party, last directed the Netflix film Game Over, Man!
He is repped by Wme, Avalon Management and law firm Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner & Gellman.
