The show was ordered to series at the cabler back in February 2022 and had completed production but will no longer air on AMC. The board of directors of AMC Networks has named James L. Dolan the company’s interim executive chairman effective immediately.
Dolan was previously the chairman of AMC Networks. His appointment comes after AMC Networks CEO Christina Spade abruptly departed the company last week after less than three months in the role.
“AMC Networks has a seasoned executive leadership team and I look forward to working with them to provide high-level strategic direction and guidance as we navigate the business during this period of transformation in the media industry,” Dolan said.
Dolan is slated to remain in his new role until March 6, 2023 or until the board finds a new CEO, whichever comes first.
Dolan previously warned AMC staffers about significant cutbacks at the company in a memo following Spade’s exit. “We are primarily a content company and the mechanisms for the monetization of content are in disarray,” he wrote at the time.

Bresaz’s is the first high-profile cut made at the cabler since James Dolan, AMC Networks’ chairman, released a memo Monday, following the Spade news hitting, that “significant cut backs in operations” were coming shortly.
“As I am sure you are aware our industry has been under pressure from growing subscriber losses. This is primarily due to ‘cord cutting,’” Dolan said in a memo to staffers at the time. “At the same time we have seen the rise of direct to consumer streaming apps including our own AMC+. It was our belief that cord cutting losses would be offset by gains in streaming. This has not been the case. AMC has found the two execs to lead its scripted efforts going forward.
The company has promoted Carrie Gillogly and Emma Miller, both whom have been longterm development executives at AMC, to new roles as co-heads of scripted series. Gillogly will also serve as SVP of scripted programming, with Miller in the equivalent role on the development side.
They will both be based out of Los Angeles and reported to Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks Entertainment Group and co-president of AMC Studios. News of their appointment comes in the wake of Sarah Barnett’s departure from her role at the top of AMC Networks. McDermott has been taking a lead role in content for the entertainment group since Barnett’s departure in late July.

AMC Networks Entertainment Group has tapped industry veteran Dan McDermott, most recently head of the Lionsgate and BBC Studios scripted TV partnership, as president of original programming and co-president of AMC Studios. He fills the void left by the August departure of David Madden, who exited as President of Programming for the AMC Entertainment Networks Group and AMC Studios amid a restructuring when AMC Studios was integrated into the company’s Entertainment Networks Group run by Sarah Barnett, President of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios.

The unscripted series will focus on the inaugural season of the La Kiss Arena Football League team and owners Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, bass guitarist/lead vocalist/co-founder of heavy metal band Kiss, and longtime manager Doc McGhee. The 10-episode series will follow the dedicated players and coaches as they try to turn La’s first professional football team in years into a winning franchise. Produced by Thinkfactory Media (Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Hatfields & McCoys), the series will premiere on AMC this summer. Executive producers of the as-yet-untitled show are Adam Freeman, Adam Reed and Leslie Greif. Goldberg, Marco Bresaz and Andrea Beckerman will oversee the series for AMC.

In his new role as VP unscripted programming at AMC, Marco Bresaz will focus on identifying and developing unscripted programming for the network. He will report to Elliot Goldberg, Svp unscripted. Bresaz comes to AMC from its sister network Sundance Channel where he served as VP of original programming and development. At Sundance Channel, Bresaz developed and oversaw the hit series Push Girls, and also guided development and production of the first seasons of Dream School and The Writers’ Room. Prior to joining the network in 2010, Bresaz held senior programming and development positions at TV Land, Spike TV and ABC Daytime, where he served as a production executive on both One Life To Live and All My Children.
