Hubert Williams(1895-2002)
The last pilot of the Royal Flying Corps in the First World War. He
joined the RFC in 1915, aged 20, 'because the pay of two shillings and
eight pence a day was better than the army and navy.' He rejoined the
RAF in World War II, training pilots to fly and reaching the rank of
squadron leader. He died in 2002 at the age of 106.
