It's been nearly 60 years since Julie Andrews first sang about how the hills of Austria were alive with the sound of music, but "The Sound of Music" remains a beloved cinematic treasure. Vividly colorful, unabashedly musical, and anchored by Andrews' performance, the story of Maria the would-be nun, and her small army of new wards — the Von Trapp children — is still rewatched and referenced often across the world.
With more than half a century of retrospect, "The Sound of Music" has also become a bit of a historical document: much of the film's cast and crew has since passed away, with the exception of Andrews herself and five of the seven actors who embodied the Von Trapp kids. Heather Menzies (Louisa) and Charmian Carr (Liesl) have both passed away in recent years, as has Christopher Plummer, who embodied family patriarch...

Ellen DeGeneres is taping a variety-show special for TBS next week that will feature a number of acts, ranging from a Japanese troupe with a hit viral video to country stars Lady Antebellum.
It would also be natural to expect her protege, 12-year-old YouTube sensation Greyson Michael Chance, to be part of the lineup too, right? Wrong.
"He's getting ready for whatever is going to happen to him. There's a lot that's about to happen, and we're trying to do it the right way," DeGeneres says of Greyson, whom she made the first signee to her newly formed record label.
"The most important thing is what's best for him. If it was just what's best for me, yes, you'd see him on the show. But I just want him to be ready. A lot has happened to him, and he's about to go into the studio and start recording. ... Yes,...

Well, that didn't take long. Jay Leno made his return to his old home on "The Tonight Show" at 11:35 p.m. and immediately bested longtime rival David Letterman in the ratings. Whether or not Leno can hold the lead is a big question, though he managed to top "The Late Show with David Letterman" with far fewer high-profile guests than his opponent.
This week probably won't see any significant shifts, as Letterman is only doing three shows this week. Still, those three will feature the likes of Jennifer Aniston on Monday (March 15), Snoop Dogg on Tuesday (March 16) and Gerard Butler on Wednesday (March 17). Leno will counter with "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi on Monday, recently-announced "Saturday Night Live" host Betty White on Tuesday, a performance by Orianthi on Thursday (March 18) and a visit from "Hot Tub Time Machine" star John Cusack on Friday (March 19).
