He has published five books, including bestsellers NOT BETWEEN BROTHERS (in development for a mini-series with NBC Studios/Tig Productions, 1998-2001), and ONE RANGER (with Joaquin Jackson, in development for a feature film with 2929/Magnolia, 2006-2007).
Wilkinson co-wrote three adaptations (screenplays) to his books, including THE EMPTY QUARTER, OBLIVION'S ALTAR, and ONE RANGER.
Credited as a "Co-Producer" on A&E/History's 8-hour mini-series, TEXAS RISING, Wilkinson first came on the project as a "historical consultant". A month later, he was heavily involved in writing the script (with Leslie Grief and Darrell K. Fetty). Wilkinson will also appear in the companion documentary--"The True Story of Texas Rising".
Wilkinson was also on the development team of GRAY HOUSE--a 6-hour mini-series based on the real life exploits of Civil War spy, Elizabeth Van Lew. (Original script penned by John Sayles.) Wilkinson is credited as a "Producer" in this project, which also included heavy writing and research responsibilities.
In DECEMBER 2014, Wilkinson was hired to co-write the screenplay for Season Two of TEXAS RISING (again, with Leslie Grief and Darrell K. Fetty). This project is on-going in April 2015.
In 2014, Wilkinson also created and wrote the treatment for a feature film based on the life of Harry St. John Bridger Philby, tentatively entitled THE OTHER SIDE OF ARABIA.
An Award-winning novelist and author, David Marion Wilkinson is a member of the Texas Institute of Letters, and also the Writers Guild of America--West. Wilkinson currently lives in Austin, Texas.
