Chennai, Aug 11 (Ians) The Indian men’s hockey team stormed into the final of the Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023 after a comprehensive 5-0 victory against reigning Asian Games Champions Japan in the semi-finals at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, here on Friday.

New Delhi, July 25 (Ians) Hockey India on Tuesday announced the 18-member men’s squad for the Asian Champions Trophy 2023, which will be held at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai from August 3 to 12.
The Asian Champions Trophy will also serve as a preparation event for the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023.
The team will continue to be led by ace drag-flicker and defender Harmanpreet Singh while prolific midfielder Hardik Singh will be his deputy.
PR Sreejesh and Krishan Bahadur Pathak have been named as the designated goalkeepers, while Jarmanpreet Singh, Sumit, Jugraj Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, and Amit Rohidas have been named as defenders.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 (Ians) Clubbed with European giants England, Spain and Wales in Pool D, hosts India will open their campaign against Spain in the 2023 Fih Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup at Rourkela on January 13, the opening day of the competition.
While India, the 1975 winner, will take on Spain in a prime-time match at 7pm in the newly-constructed Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, the action on the first day will start with a 1pm match between 2016 Olympic Gold medallists Argentina and Africa’s highest-ranked nation South Africa at the Kalinga Stadium here.
The second match of the day will also be played at Bhubaneswar with see world No. 1 Australia taking on Paris 2023 host France, in a repeat of the 2018 World Cup quarterfinal.
The inaugural match at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, Rourkela will be a “derby” between England and Wales, and India and Spain will windup the action for the day.

The Steelers are set to begin their Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 campaign against Bengal Warriors on October 8th at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, in Bengaluru.
“We are excited about the schedule that has come through and beginning against a strong team in Bengal Warriors in our first game will put us right in the thick of things. Our players have been training hard for over a month now, and we believe we are ready for the competition,” said Singh.

New Delhi, Sep 21 (Ians) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday restrained Sjoerd Marijne, former coach of Indian Women’s hockey team, from making any statements or giving interviews, or publishing any material from his upcoming book on men’s hockey team captain Manpreet Singh as they are ‘prima facie defamatory.’
“In my prima facie view, the statements made are on the face of it defamatory and injurious to the reputation and goodwill of plaintiff (Manpreet Singh),” Single-judge Justice Amit Bansal remarked.
The court further said, “.. till the next date of hearing Defendant No 2 (Marijne) is restrained from issuing any statement, giving interviews, correspondence and publishing excerpts in relation to the aforesaid statements as pointed out in the manuscript.”
During the course of the hearing, Publishing house HarperCollins Publishers India Pvt Ltd submitted that till pendency of Singh’s suit filed, they do not intend to publish the excerpts of the manuscript.
