Gina Villafañe

Panamanian born Gina Villafañe earned a degree in Electronic
Communications Engineering from Universidad de Panama on 2004, later
she moved to Cuba to master on Sound at the renowned International Film
& Television School of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV). Since 2007 she
has worked as a freelance sound designer for fiction and documentary
films in Central America and Cuba. In 2009 she was invited to
coordinated de Sound Department at EICTV, there she worked as a
professor and member of the academic council until may 2012. She has
taught various workshops on sound recording and sound post-production
in Central America with a fellowship from the Norwegian Peace Corp
(Fredskorpset). Also has been a juror at Icarus Central America Film
Festival and the Golden Lion Film Festival in Taiwan. In 2010 she
founded Open Roads Media S.A. a Panamanian based film production
company that premiered it's first long feature film Jirafas (2012, a
co-production between Cuba, Colombia, Panama) at the Rotterdam Film
Festival 2013.
