U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford has ended his engagement to Argentinian Maria Belen Chapur, he announced in a 2,300-word Facebook post on Friday. "No relationship can stand forever this tension of being forced to pick between the one you love and your own son or daughter," the Republican from South Carolina wrote, "and for this reason Belen and I have decided to call off the engagement." Sanford, 54, was having an affair Belen while still married to Jenny Sanford, 42. Will voters tell Mark Sanford to take a hike - for real this time? Less than three weeks until voters in South Carolina's first district decide whether to give their former governor another chance by electing him to Congress, his ex-wife Jenny has accused him of trespassing on her property in violation of their divorce agreement. Sanford is engaged to marry Argentine journalist Maria Belen Chapur, whom he called his "soul mate" when admitting to a June 2009 affair that he had tried to conceal - staffers claimed he was hiking the Appalachian Trail. But according to a complaint filed by...

Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, sister of comedian Stephen Colbert, will run for Congress in South Carolina, St. Andrews Patch confirmed on Friday.
Colbert-Busch's entry into the race could make for interesting programming on her younger brother's show. Unlike the character Colbert plays on TV, Colbert-Busch is a Democrat, and she'll be seeking to turn a long-red First Congressional District -- previously represented by now-gop Sen. Tim Scott -- blue. But her entrance into the race will add to the intrigue of an already compelling contest that will feature disgraced ex-South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford duking it out with at least five other Republican candidates for the nomination.
Sanford notoriously disappeared from the state in 2009 in a scandal that eventually forced him to admit that he was having an extramarital affair with an Argentinian woman. He finished his term, but his wife, Jenny Sanford, eventually divorced him, and earlier this month declined to run for the seat.

You won’t catch Huma with puffy eyes or unkempt hair!
Huma Abedin might be dealing with Anthony Weiner‘s sexting scandal, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at her! She is really coming out on top by looking classy and composed!
Huma’s hair is glossy and sleek whether she wears it up in a neat chignon or down around her shoulders. Her makeup is clean and fresh, punctuated by her signature red lips. I commend Huma for looking so incredibly fabulous throughout this scandal. Her dark red lips are a total power-color that make her seem strong and beautiful, showing the world that she will not let this situation take her down.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Huma’s incredible look through her husband’s embarrassing debacle?

Well, many people figured another shoe would drop, and this time, it’s in the form of a confession that former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, who just last week separated from his wife Maria Shriver, fathered a child ten years ago with a member of his “household staff.”
But in Schwarzenegger’s public admission of sexual misconduct, one sentence stands out: “While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not.”

Jenny Sanford's narrative as a political wife may be extreme-she left her husband, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, after an affair-but her day-to-day experiences were common. She tells Lois Romano what presidential candidates' wives can expect on the 2012 campaign trail: "It's relentless."
Long before her life imploded in a spectacle of headlines over her husband's infidelity, Jenny Sanford "could not wait to get out of that job."

She's referring not just to Mark Sanford's job as governor of South Carolina but to the burden she endured throughout his 15 years in public life. Nothing, she says, prepares you for the scrutiny.
"Everything you do is criticized-your clothes are ugly, you're not doing enough, your politics are questioned. It gets mean," she said in an interview. "You have to live a very guarded life."

What candidates' wives want. What we demand of them. In this week's Newsweek, Michelle Cottle on the state of the political spouse. Plus, Cindy McCain says "spouses get a bad rap."
On May 12, some 1,000 Republicans and a truckload of local and national journalists descended on the Jw Marriott in downtown Indianapolis for the state Gop spring dinner. The draw? Keynote speaker Cheri Daniels, wife of governor-and possible presidential candidate-Mitch Daniels.
Related story on The Daily Beast: Does Pawlenty Have a Prayer?
It didn't matter what Cheri had to say so much as that she had agreed to speak at all. Up to now, Indiana's first lady has declined to take part in her husband's political quest. In fact, the final hurdle to Mitch's joining the White House race is said to be Cheri's anxiety about their personal life getting shredded like a chunk of ripe Parmesan.
It is not an unreasonable fear.

In this week's Newsweek, Cindy McCain on what it really takes to be a successful political wife, how blogs changed the game-and why you shouldn't mistake her for a Stepford wife.
I mean this in the nicest way: when John first ran for Congress, I did not know what I was getting into. And that was probably a good thing.

With our favorite prime time shows on hiatus, TV Fanatic is taking a look back at some buzzed-about programs and grading their performance this fall, with a look toward 2011.
Previously this week, we gave a B to Glee. Up now: The Good Wife.
Best episode: "Nine Hours." The drama wrapped up 2010 with an hour that encapsulated all we love about this show. Alicia and company's race to save a death row inmate featured suspense, touches of humor and character developments that fit organically into a tight, interesting case.
Best character: I continue to love Cary. For a series that constantly treads in grey areas, this lawyer epitomizes how well The Good Wife paints multi-layered individual. Is he good at his job? Yes. Does he know that? Oh yes. Is he a tad smarmy? Definitely. But does he have reason to be bitter? I'd say so.
Might he and Kalina hook up?...

As one of the most current shows on TV, The Good Wife often throws out relevant pop culture references, from Sarah Palin to Jenny Sanford to the double rainbow YouTube video.
On an upcoming episode, meanwhile, the CBS drama will take this show aspect to a new level:
Rita Wilson and F. Murray Abrahamwill have been booked on a February installment that’s inspired by The Social Network and, specifically, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
The buzz-worthy episode will focus on a young computer geek who launches a website about which a film is made. He then sues the producers because he's unhappy with the movie version of his life.
Abraham will portray the lead attorney at a film conglomerate, while Wilson will play another lawyer named Viola. She'll be an old friend of Diane's.

For a show that treats its viewers with such respect, The Good Wife concluded this episode in a disappointing manner.
I was shocked to see Alicia learn of Will's voicemails via federal wiretaps and curious how she'd deal with this new piece of information, but then left with a bitter taste when "On Tap" ended with a cliffhanger that felt more contrived than exciting.
This incredible drama has succeeded almost too well at pushing the Will/Alicia romance to the back burner. There are just so many interesting storylines going on every week that I don't want too much time dedicated to what's beginning to feel like a high school love triangle.
I was hoping this episode would conclude with Alicia simply walking into Will's office and saying she loved him, too, or at least that there had been a miscommunication.
But having Tammy present, and leading to what I'm...

But last week, when South Carolina’s first lady, Jenny Sanford, appeared on The Daily Show and announced to Jon Stewart that the worst part of moving from the governor’s mansion was giving up the convict laborers who used to bathe her dogs and maintain the property gardens, it seemed, curiously, that her comments were not satirical at all. She was speaking earnestly, and intended...
