Jerry Seinfeld said he is nostalgic for the “agreed-upon hierarchy” of American culture in the 1960s, adding that he misses “dominant masculinity.”
Seinfeld shared the comments on Tuesday’s episode of the Honestly With Bari Weiss podcast, where he said he feels cultural hierarchy has “absolutely vaporized in today’s moment.”
“That is why people lean on the horn and drive in the crazy way that they drive,” he continued. “Because we have no sense of hierarchy. And as humans, we don’t really feel comfortable like that.”
Seinfeld was speaking in connection to his recent Netflix film (and feature-length directorial debut) Unfrosted, which tells the fictionalized origin story of the Pop-Tart and takes place in Michigan in the ’60s. During their conversation, Weiss told the comedian she felt the film represented a nostalgia for “a sense of one conversation, a common culture.”

1497 has revealed the finalists of its third annual Features Lab. See their bios below.
The lab is designed to elevate and develop screenplays by writers of South Asian descent, while providing career support. It aims to empower writers in the South Asian diaspora to write whatever stories they feel compelled to tell, unbounded by genre, cultural content, geographic location, or any other stereotypical expectation.
Established in 2020 by Adeel Ahmed, Lipica Shah, and Kamran Khan, 1497 has been steadfast in its commitment to championing and empowering South Asian talent, countering their historical marginalization and year preceding colonization in what is now recognized as South Asia.
Sponsored by Final Draft, the 2023 Features Lab will guide three Mentees through a comprehensive, multi-tiered journey during a five-day retreat in Malibu. This transformative process will begin with working with Sundance filmmaker and seasoned script consultant Adrienne Weiss, to bolster the refinement of their feature film scripts.

Considered one of the greatest and most influential Indian films of all time (just a glance at the wikipedia page about the film is enough) “Sholay” is a true masala film, a true epic, and a truly impressive production that has stood the test of time even now, almost 50 years after its initial release.
The film begins with Thakur, a police inspector, tasking a man with finding two small-time crooks, Jai and Veeru, who had helped him in the past, proving both their fighting abilities and their integrity. The focus switches on the two and their time in prison and their escape, until the three protagonists are finally united in Thakur’s village in Ramgarh. The now retired inspector asks them to capture a notorious dacoit named Gabbar Singh, who has been terrorizing the area for years, promising them an additional reward of ₹20,000, on top of the ₹50,000 of the bounty for his head.
