Escape to Victory didn't set the world alight on its initial release in 1981, but as the decades have ticked on the film has firmly cemented itself as a cult favourite among fans of film and football.
Now, this potent mix of The Great Escape and underdog sports tale is in line for a remake with Edge of Tomorrow's Doug Liman at the helm. Liman will surely play it straight in the redo, but the original film featured a glorious mix of big movie stars of the day (Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine), ageing football icons who'd taken a paycheque in the Us (Pelé) and Ipswich Town players (hey, they were big in the '80s!).
With that in mind, Digital Spy has picked a brand new Victory 2014 starting XI ready for 90 minutes of life-or-death football. Fyi, we're playing 4-4-2 - the Nazis might overrun us in midfield but we're old school!

Former AC Milan playing favourite Clarence Seedorf is to return to the San Siro as the Rossoneri’s new boss.
A Champions League winner four times with three different clubs, Seedorf, 37, spent a decade with Milan between 2002 and 2012. He takes his first steps into management after announcing his retirement from planning after 18 months at Brazilian team Botafogo.
Milan president Silio Berlusconi dispensed with the services of Massimiliano Allegri on Monday following a 4-3 loss to promoted side Sassuolo. The Rossoneri sit eleventh in Serie A – six points above the relegation zone, 20 outside a Champions League place and 30 behind Italian league leaders Juventus.
Seedorf told the BBC:
“This experience of a year and a half [with Botafogo] helped me grow and will help me in the next stage of my life – as coach of Milan.”
Suriname-born Dutch international Seedorf played at three European Championships and 1998 World Cup. He earned 87 Netherlands caps across 14 years.

Tottenham are on the hunt for a new manager after the increasingly inevitable departure of Andre Villas-Boas was confirmed in the wake of the chastening 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool. The manager was summoned to an emergency meeting after the loss, and his departure by mutual consent was announced.
There are many possible options for Daniel Levy to turn to, and the Spurs chairman is under huge pressure to get this appointment right after the expensive failure of Avb. Michael Laudrup, Frank De Boer and Fabio Capello have been mentioned as potential successors, but one who could surprise a few onlookers is ex-England manager Glenn Hoddle, who has been touted by BBC pundit Gary Lineker.
Hoddle has not managed at Premier League level since leaving Spurs themselves in 2003. His reign ended in disappointment, leaving Spurs in the relegation zone with four points from their six opening games.
