The anticipation for “Yellowjackets” Season 2 certainly paid off as the sophomore season debuted to nearly 2 million viewers across Showtime platforms.
The episode marked a 40% uptick from the Season 1 finale of Showtime’s coming-of-age drama, which brought in 1.3 million viewers, and also exceeded the series high previously set by Season 1 Episode 9, whose penultimate episode drew in 1.4 million viewers. The Season 2 premiere also saw a 110% uptick from viewership for the November 2021 series premiere, which Showtime said was more than doubled by the Season 1 finale.

This piece contains spoilers for the second season of "Yellowjackets."
So, remember back in the first season of "Yellowjackets" where it seemed like queen bee Jackie (Ella Purnell) was going to survive the 19 months the soccer team spent in the woods? One of the seemingly-damning pieces of evidence was her diary, which her former bestie Shauna (Sophie Nélisse and Melanie Lynskey) reads during a visit to her house. As an adult, Shauna sees that the pages of Jackie's notebook are covered in writings about things that couldn't have happened when they were stranded in the Canadian wilderness, like referencing movies that had yet to come out. For a while, it was pretty plausible that Jackie did survive and avoided being eaten by her teammates, but as the final moments of the season finale rolled around, we realized that was far from the case.
However, despite Jackie becoming a sleeping popsicle,...

This Yellowjackets article contains spoilers.
The Yellowjackets finale may have left us with a million questions, but at least we know there’s another season full of answers on its way. Showtime has officially renewed Yellowjackets for season 2. It should come as no surprise considering the critical acclaim and social buzz the show has received since it premiered last November.
“Yellowjackets has been an unadulterated sensation for Showtime,” said Showtime entertainment president Gary Levine in a statement. “We are overwhelmed by both the acclaim and the audience response to our series, including several ‘Best of 2021’ lists, a 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and snowballing viewership. Clearly there is a hunger for originality and audacity, and our incredible showrunners Ashley, Bart and Jonathan, along with their pitch-perfect cast, have delivered that and so much more. I can’t wait to see the surprises they have in store for us in season two.

There are TV shows you don’t realize you need in your life until they arrive. Shows that defy expectations and deliver insights in a fashion that could never have been anticipated by simply reading a synopsis. These series often struggle to find their audience, with individuals discovering them only after the fact. And while it’s wonderful that art can touch people long after its completion, delayed appreciation — particularly when it comes to television — can be a dreamkiller.
If you’ve had your ear to the ground of social media, you might have heard a persistent rumble about Showtime’s new series “Yellowjackets.” Perhaps, you reckon, it’s a show that isn’t your style, but that fans will not stop yammering about. In reality, it’s a beautiful and brutal series, a rumination on survival and sacrifice and what we owe each other on a baseline level. It...

It's hard to get too worked up about anything onscreen in The Happys, including the cutesy English translation of Los Feliz, the Los Angeles neighborhood that gives the film its name. Directors-screenwriters Tom Gould and Jon Serpe's feature debut is the sort of quirky, insiderish L.A. dramedy that tries but fails to make us care about its troubled young characters who are, you guessed it, looking for happiness.
The story begins with 21-year-old Tracy (Amanda Bauer), a Wisconsin native newly transplanted to California, coming home and finding her hunky fiance Mark (Jack DePew) going at it hot and heavy with...

"Listen to me - don't come back." Indican Pictures has debuted a trailer for an indie Los Angeles-set comedy titled The Happys, about a girl from the Midwest who moves into the trendy hipster neighborhood of Los Feliz. Tracy befriends the various weirdos from her neighborhood after a bad break up with hey boyfriend, meeting a recluse, a manager, a reporter, and a food truck chef, among others. Amanda Bauer (from "The Myth of the American Sleepover") stars, and the ensemble cast includes Jack DePew, Janeane Garofalo, Melissa McBride, Rhys Ward, Arturo del Puerto, Cathy Ladman, Brian Jordan Alvarez, and Will Bethencourt. This seems like one of those cutesy La movies that is all about how hard/easy it is to make friends in that town, perfectly depicting all the various quirks of Los Feliz. Oh, Los Angeles. Have fun. Here's the first trailer (+ poster) for Tom Gould & John Serpe's The Happys,...
