Benson Taylor is a British born composer based in Los Angeles.
Taylor began composing music at the age of 19 and went on to study music composition at the University of California, Los Angeles with composer Lennie Moore. Taylor also trained in his early days with Emmy Award-winning Hummie Mann and Grammy Award-winning Mark Mancina.
In 2018 he scored the thriller London Fields (2018) directed by Mathew Cullen and starring Johnny Depp, Billy Bob Thornton, Amber Heard, Cara Delevingne, Theo James, & Jim Sturgess. In 2020 he produced and the scored the soundtrack to the action comedy Chick Fight (2020) directed by Paul Leyden, which stars Bella Thorne, Malin Akerman, & Alec Baldwin.
Taylor has written original music for Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, the Walt Disney Company, Dreamworks SKG, the Discovery Channel & National Geographic.
In December 2013, he won 'Best Original Music' at the Monaco International Film Festival for his emotional score to Fear of Water (2014), awarded to him by Jury President, Academy Award Nominee, Roland Joffé.
Taylor's work spans a multitude of genres and shows, including, but not limited to The Ricky Gervais Show (2010), Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution (2010) (Emmy winning), Comedy Central's 30 Rock (2006), Two and a Half Men (2003), The Big Bang Theory (2007), Netflix's Orange Is the New Black (2013), Ray Donovan (2013), How to Get Away with Murder (2014), and Kroll Show (2013). Video games including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - Deadly Intent (2009) and Football Manager 2010 (2009).
Taylor's music has featured in several BAFTA Award-winning and EMMY Award-winning shows and he has written music for many feature projects, including Avatar (2009) by James Cameron, Clash of the Titans (2010), The Blind Side (2009), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), The Expendables (2010), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), & Transcendence (2014).
