The world travels of a pair of brothers, one with Down’s, start to look like a middling gap-year project
On the rare occasions the cinema has engaged with Down’s syndrome – 1996’s The Eighth Day and 2019’s The Peanut Butter Falcon are the main ones to spring to mind – it’s been in the form of sweetly sentimental road trips. Though Handsome travels far wider, this meandering, naggingly superficial and sometimes outright misjudged documentary hews to a similar path, dispatching Nick Bourne and younger brother Alex, who has Down’s, to swap tales with similar support networks around the globe. Narrator Nick has Louis Theroux’s specs, crossed-arm stance and stop-start syntax down pat. But what he lacks are Theroux’s generally sure journalistic instincts: the sense of where the story lies, the ability to cut to the chase, and the good grace to remove himself from the picture...

UK festival recently moved online-only due to virus crisis.
The Glasgow Film Festival (Gff) has revealed the programme for its 2021 edition (Feb 24-March 7), which includes several award-winning festival favourites and a focus on South Korea.
The 17th edition of Gff, which recently announced it would shift online-only due to the ongoing virus crisis, includes six world premieres, two European premieres and 49 UK premieres – around a third of the event’s usual programme of 180 titles.
However, Gff co-directors Allison Gardner and Allan Hunter said the reduced number of slots had forced them to raise the bar for selection and produce a stronger programme as a result.

The milestone was rung in with ample friends, liquor sponsors and a performance by Atomic Tom — a band from just across the East River in Brooklyn that recently earned worldwide renown.
The NYC foursome became a viral sensation after posting a video online of them performing their single "Take Me Out" live on the subway, using only iPhone apps as instruments.
"As a band we've always done these creative video blogs ... and we try to showcase our music through it as well. This most recent one was no different," explained guitarist Eric Espiritu, whose little brother thought up the concept. "He pitched it, and we were like,...
