“The 1619 Project” creator Nikole Hannah-Jones needed just one word to describe what it was like to pose on the red-white-and-blue carpet with Oprah Winfrey.

“Insane!” Hannah-Jones told Variety as she made her way down the line of reporters outside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Thursday night. “This was a lot, but it feels amazing.”

The journalist — a “print reporter” she likes to note, meaning she’s not quite used to the “lights, camera, action” style that TV news requires — cut a striking figure on the carpet, wearing an emerald green velvet gown which set off her signature red hair, plus her signature diamond necklace with “Nikole” written in cursive and custom gold “1619” hoop earrings.

Photographers called for her to look this way, that way, and “over the shoulder” as she posed with her collaborators, executive producer and director Roger Ross Williams and showrunner Shoshana Guy.

The Bravo personality joined the cast of Rhobh in 2020 as the first Black Beverly Hills housewife after a long career as both a model and actress. Outside of reality television, Garcelle is recognized for her work on NYPD Blue, The Jamie Foxx Show and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Quickly becoming a fan-favorite, she is known on the hit Bravo series for her ability to stand up to the other housewives. E! aired the final episode of Nightly Pop after the cable network announced a major shakeup to their programming. The pop culture talk show hosted by Morgan Stewart, Hunter March and Nina Parker came to an end with a toast to their run on the air and a smooch between March and Parker.

On social media, each of the hosts shared heartfelt messages to their fans showing their gratitude for all the years of support.

Hunter March is reacting to the news that his E! show Nightly Pop has been canceled by the cable network after four years. The television host found out that the late-night show was ending after undergoing spine surgery.

“This surgery was really tough,” March said on Instagram Stories setting up his joke right out of surgery. “One thing that kept me going was the idea that I’m getting better so that I can get back to my job and make people laugh on Nightly Pop ’cause that really means the world to me.”

In a second story, March delivered the punchline flawlessly adding, “Nevermind, just found out Nightly Pop was canceled.”

“The funniest part about Nightly Pop being canceled joke is that it was not a joke. Those are the best jokes — when they are real and announced during your surgery,” he added.

E! is canceling two of its daily entertainment-news shows.

The daytime show Daily Pop will end its five-year run in September, and companion Nightly Pop will go dark in October. The NBCUniversal-owned cable outlet also plans to launch a new evening news show in October that will “return to the roots of the E! News brand as the gold standard of entertainment news coverage,” according to a memo from Tracie Wilson, executive vp syndication studios at NBCUniversal, to E! staff on Friday (read it in full below).

“I know change can be challenging, but I am truly excited about the future of these brands that we are going to build together,” Wilson wrote.

The cancellation of the two shows is part of a larger restructuring at E!, which includes the creation of Terrace Studios to share some functions — including stage and production...

In it, Wilson shared that as Tammy Filler continues her role as executive vice president and editor-in-chief of E! News, she will have three direct reports including Jen Lavin leading creative, Jamie Blynn leading online editorial and someone who will be hired to lead digital strategy.

Additionally, on the production side, Ed Zarcoff will lead E!’s production group as senior vice president of news operations, reporting to Wilson and collaborating with Vinnie Fusco and Kristin Killackey, who continue lead first-run production operations.

Deadline understands that the cable network is restructuring, canceling shows such as Daily Pop and Nightly Pop, leading to the departure of production staff of those shows.

The news is being communicated to staff Friday morning by Tracie Wilson, EVP Of Syndication Studios and E! News at NBCUniversal, who reports to NBCU’s Susan Rovner, at a town hall.

On Thursday, the streaming service announced that “Selling Sunset” has been renewed for Seasons 6 and 7, with production kicking off this summer.

Produced by Adam Divello’s Done and Done Productions and Lionsgate, “Selling Sunset” follows the real estate agents of the Oppenheim Group — run by Jason and Brett Oppenheim. Netflix is doubling down on property.

The streamer has handed breakout reality series Selling Sunset a two season order – taking it through seasons six and seven and ordered a slate of new property, real estate and renovation shows.

Production on season six of high-end real estate series Selling Sunset, which follows the likes of Chrishell Stause, Christine Quinn and Mary Fitzgerald and their colleagues at The Oppenheim Group, will start later this summer.

The series, which is produced by Lionsgate and Done and Done Productions, is exec produced by creator Adam Divello, Sundee Manusakis, Kristofer Lindquist, Skyler Wakil and Jason Oppenheim.

Laverne Cox has been tapped as the new host of E!’s red carpet coverage, stepping in for longtime hosts Giuliana Rancic and Ryan Seacrest beginning next year.

The “Orange Is the New Black” alum will pick up the mic for the 2022 awards season to “to build out a modern, inclusive and interactive experience for celebrities and their fans,” according to E!. She will also host a series of interview specials to air throughout the year, showcasing “trendsetters, tastemakers and those making an impact in the Hollywood community.”
