Born in Richmond, VA to Charles L. Greenlee Jr,
and the late Shelba J. Greenlee, Gary is the youngest of his family. In
October 1982, at the age of 5, Gary's family was forced to move from
Richmond, Virginia to Whitesburg, Tennessee when the McLean Trucking
Company office in Richmond was closing.
His senior year of high school, the combined Morristown-Hamblen East and West High choirs were performing the musical, "Meet me in St Louis", where Gary was a member of the orchestra. This started a love of the theatre for Gary. He was been cast in various theatrical plays such as "Grapes of Wrath", "Man who Came to Dinner", and "A Flear in her Ear." Gary has also performed in a few musicals that include "Tommy", "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", and "My Favorite Year." He has also served on a plethora of theatrical shows as a stage technician and has designed the lights and sound some shows. In 2010 Gary has worked as the sound designer on "Romeo and Juliet" for Walter's State Community College and lighting and sound designer for a showing of the Newport Theatre Guild's "Wizard of Oz". He is also expected to be on the lighting design team, and the lighting operator for the Lakeway School of Ballet and Dance's fall presentation of "The Nutcracker".
Gary's film work has been primarily as a writer, assistant camera operator, and credit designer for "shoot out" film with his friend, Daniel Munson. Lucky Rock, shot at the end of May in 2010 marked the first time that Gary was used as a performer in a film. His role was also a last minute replacement.
