For the latest taste of her upcoming album Covers, out Jan. 14, Cat Power takes on the classic Billie Holiday cut “I’ll Be Seeing You.” She shared an old-timey music video for the track set in a dim cabaret hall, the small audience enthralled by the performance.
The cover was inspired by the death of her close friend and collaborator Philippe Zdar; Power said: “When people who you love have been taken from you, there’s always a song that holds their memory in your mind. It’s a conversation with those on the other side,...

“I make soulless electronic pop,” Lady Gaga once said. “But when you’re on Ecstasy in a nightclub grinding up against someone and my music comes on, you’ll feel soul.” That kind of contradiction — between the mechanical and the spiritual, between isolation and connection, between escapism and meaning — is the fuel supercharging Hot Chip’s seventh album. This is music that feels hot and cold in the same moment, in the grand tradition of Roxy Music and the Pet Shop Boys. Hedonistic? Philosophical? Why not both! The bass bounces and rolls,...

Hot Chip provide the very literal soundtrack for a couple’s breakup in the video for their new song “Hungry Child,” off their upcoming album, A Bath Full of Ecstasy, out June 21st.
Directed by Saman Kesh, the clip gleefully shatters the most basic suspension of disbelief required for music videos — that the song can’t be heard by anyone in the video. Martin Starr and Milana Vayntrub play a couple who can’t get along and when another fight breaks out, their ears are suddenly filled with the relentless...

New York — Ryan Tedder has been the mastermind behind hits for Adele, Beyonce and Leona Lewis, but on his band's new album, the Grammy winner gets help from other hit-makers.
Tedder's name is all over the credits on "Native," OneRepublic's third album, released Tuesday. But other players helped shape the band's latest sound, including Benny Blanco, who co-produced hits like Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" and Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream," and Jeff Bhasker, who produced fun.'s Grammy-winning breakthrough album, "Some Nights."
"I was very clear with them," said Tedder, who added that taking a back seat to other producers was both "scary and exciting."
"I was like, `We're not Maroon 5. We're not fun.'"
OneRepublic's lead single, "If I Lose Myself," was co-produced by Blanco, and Bhasker adds his drum-filled sound to "Can't Stop." The album also features producer Philippe Zdar, best known his work with French critical darlings Phoenix.
