Sean Mattison is an Emmy® award-winning director, producer, and cinematographer. His directing work has been featured in the New York Times, The Atlantic, National Geographic, and The Fader. In 2018 he co-directed the Webby award-winning documentary "Mr. Wash", the story of wrongfully incarcerated self-taught artist Fulton Leroy Washington. In 2021 his New York Times Op-Doc "Atención! Murderer Next Door" received a 2021 News & Documentary Emmy Award. As a cinematographer he has worked on over a dozen documentary features, including the Paul Bowles inspired "Their Heads Are Green And Their Hands Are Blue" (Red Sea International Film Festival 2021), "Sophia" (Tribeca 2022), and the Oscar shortlisted "Descendant" (Sundance 2022), as well as shooting and producing on the AppleTV+ series "The Line", focused on accountability in the US military. In 2016, he co-produced the Netflix true crime documentary "Sour Grapes". His first feature length directorial effort, "Petro", is about the rise of Colombian president Gustavo Petro.
