Chris Phillips(XXIX)
- Director
- Writer
- Producer
Raised in Austin, TX, Chris Phillips found himself starved for authenticity at an early age and related way more to films like SEX, LIES & VIDEOTAPE, THE BREAKFAST CLUB and WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? than any pre-teen really should. Now based in Los Angeles, Chris has directed 7 short films -- 4 from his own scripts -- screening at festivals such as Outfest Los Angeles and the California Independent Film Festival, where he won Best Director. Chris was a Top 50 semi-finalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, a finalist for the Warner Bros. TV Writers Workshop, a semi-finalist for the NBC Universal Emerging Writers Fellowship, and a finalist for both the WB TV Pilot award and the Josephson Entertainment Fellowship at the Austin Film Festival. Chris's goal is to follow in the footsteps of his idol Spike Lee, creating work that reflects LGBTQ America the same way Lee reflects Black America: with a challenging, brutally honest voice and a variety of POV's we've never seen or heard before.
