Born & raised in Roxbury, MA. Growing up I loved basketball, setting up "talent shows" with my cousins and performing in them; for whomever was in the living room willing to watch.
In August of 1999 at 12, a local story involving three best friends had grasped my attention. I ended up writing a 9 page paper proposing my thoughts and expressing my emotions on the event.
By the age of 13 I had delved into rapping, and had written a remake of the feature-film Love & Basketball, that I was requesting to be that years school play.
At 15, after looking back, I had realized that unconsciously I received advice from movies, TV shows & media itself. The media true or not made impressions on the image of the person I was becoming. The feature, The Wood, taught me what to do when a boy smacks your butt, Love & Basketball inspired me to take playing basketball seriously, The Cosby's showed me that you can be black & wealthy, Moesha, had me moving from the back to the front row of my classes attempting to get all A's. That realization of the impact of media, was the deciding factor needed for me to write my own script.
I moved in with my grandparents at the age of 8 they were old school strict, but they are a huge part of why I am who I am.
For instance, Christmas 1993, my grandfather, Joseph Diggs, gave me my first Minolta camera lesson on catching focus. Just that quick I went from standing there watching him eager to learn, to, wait so I can grow up and do this for real. At 12 he handed me my first non-disposable camera. It was over after that.
Grandma, Genevieve Diggs implanted in me the determination & ambition to get through everything and anything. My mom, Margaret "Peggy" Diggs gifted me with the power of understanding and creativity.
Knowing the power & impact of media I strive to cinematically produce media with profound messages that call to aspire, while enhancing the depth of understanding.
