Rebeca Ofek is an Israeli writer and director residing in Berlin. her career in film and television began in 2004 as a video editor working for diverse television series for young audiences in Israel.
in 2006 she moved to berlin and in 2010 she began studying directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb).
during the course of her studies Rebeca has attended masterclasses with Clair Denis, John Waters and Rafi Pitts. She also wrote and directed a series of fictional short films that were produced for television by arte and rbb. in 2014 Rebeca returned to her hometown to work as a journalist and senior news producer for international news outlet i24news. In addition, at the time she developed a political feature film script together with director Ziska Riemann which was supported by the FFA drehbuchförderung titled "Transit Lounge".
in 2018 she came back to Berlin to shoot her first feature JESSY, which she also co-wrote, produced by rbb. JESSY has been screened at several festivals and received an honorable mention at the Achtung Berlin Festival 2022.
Besides her fictional films, Rebeca Ofek is also working on a documentary film in the framework of a master class by Andres Veiel. The film deals with the topic of Jewish identity in the context of life in Germany.
Together with Esther Becker, she has written the mini-series "Schwestern" for Studio Zentral, which she is meant to direct.
Her most current project is her debutfilm titled "Wie die Gorillas' and is an adaptation to the successful feminist coming of age novel by Esther Becker which has received support from the FFA Drehbuchförderung and is produced by Network Movie Hamburg.
