- Anne Beagan was a career Special Agent and criminal investigator with the FBI, serving in the two of the FBI's largest field divisions, New York and Los Angeles, as well as assignments to FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC, and a special detail to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
In 2010, Ms. Beagan was assigned to the Office of Public Affairs where she initiated and managed long-form news media and entertainment projects for the New York office, stories that featured the work and mission of the FBI's agents and analysts. She developed strong working relationships with leading media and entertainment industry professionals on behalf of the FBI. She played a key liaison role to represent FBI interests in accuracy and authenticity when the Bureau is depicted, and, at the same time, worked closely with the production side to provide valuable input, developing a reputation for being creative and proactive. She was directly involved in a number of fiction and non-fiction television, film, and print projects relating to the Bureau, including The Wolf of Wall Street, Tower Heist, The Wizard of Lies, Mr. Robot, The Looming Tower, Sleeper Cell, Limitless, The Informer, The Irishman, the CNN original series Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies, and more. She initiated the successful development of Newsweek and Vanity Fair spotlight stories, the latter featuring the first woman to lead the FBI's New York office.
Ms. Beagan was the driving force behind Dick Wolf/CBS's FBI, which led to her key role in the production of the Dick Wolf/USA Network's six-hour docuseries Inside the FBI: New York. Due to her vast experience and trust earned inside the Bureau, she was able to negotiate unprecedented access to the professional and personal lives of the men and women of the New York office, allowing viewers a rare glimpse into the FBI world. She is also credited with providing a significant creative vision to the well-received docuseries.
Ms. Beagan retired from the FBI in January 2020, the youngest female Agent ever eligible to do so.
