A lawsuit filed by a Seal Team script coordinator and freelancer who claims he was denied a writing position because he’s a straight white guy has already struck a chord with fellow scribes.
Many took to X to express their frustration with freelance scribe Brian Beneker, who says in the complaint that he suffered by not being part of “the favored hiring groups; that is, they were nonwhite, LGBTQ, or female.” He also called out the “illegal policy” of diversity, equity and inclusion measures.
Beneker, who has worked on Seal Team since 2017 and before that was a script coordinator on Sons of Anarchy, claims in 2019 that he questioned current showrunner Spencer Hudnut over why previous showrunner John Glenn had hired a new male writer when Glenn claimed at the time that “there were already too many staff writers and there was no room for CBS to hire [Beneker].”

The Dei wars raging in Red State America have made their long-expected arrival in Hollywood. With support from one of Donald Trump’s closest aides, a Seal Team staffer has filed a discrimination lawsuit against CBS and Paramount Global claiming he was denied a writing position on the show because of being a straight white guy.
‘Defendants failed to hire or promote Mr. Beneker due to his race, sex, and heterosexuality,” the complaint from longtime Seal Team script coordinator and freelance scribe Brian Beneker reads. Beneker says in the complaint seeking a jury trial that he has suffered by not being part of “the favored hiring groups; that is, they were nonwhite, LGBTQ, or female,” and the “illegal policy” of increasingly attacked diversity, equity and inclusion measures.

Bravo Team, as we know it, is probably over.
That much we've been pondering since Seal Team Season 6 wrapped up this year with Jason opening up about his afflictions.
With many other SEALs coming to his side, it gave the sense that the show was traveling in a very different direction.
With Seal Team Season 7 officially serving as the last-ever hurrah for the series, there have been many questions about where the show could go next.
Now, months away from the season premiere, we're getting an idea... and it sounds pretty darn interesting.
Deadline reported this week that Beau Knapp (The Lost Symbol) has been handed the series regular role of Drew Franklin.
Yes, the series is adding a new series regular with just 10 episodes to wrap up the story of every other returning character.

All good things must come to an end, and sadly, we're approaching the end of Seal Team.
Paramount+ confirmed Wednesday that the series will wrap up for good after Seal Team Season 7.
Truthfully, the decision doesn't come as that much of a surprise.
What else can the creatives put the Bravo Team through at this stage?
Seal Team Season 6 was torturous for our favorite characters as they were dealt a terrible hand.
Seal Team Season 6 Episode 10 hinted at some significant changes going forward when all of the team members opened up about the issues plaguing them as Jason's future was called into question.
The decision was driven by the loss of Max Thieriot's Clay Spenser, who was gunned down outside a recruitment center while trying to help a troubled veteran.

Seal Team is coming to an end.
The military drama series starring David Boreanaz will conclude on the Paramount+ streaming service with its seventh season, which is set to go into production in early December and will air in 2024.
Originating on CBS, the series moved to Paramount+ with its sixth season. The show was renewed by Paramount+ for Season 7 in January and obviously production was impacted by both the writers and actors strikes.
The stand-alone movie that was announced last year, days after its Season 6 renewal, however, is no longer moving forward.
The pickup came two months after the Season 6 finale, which ended on a cliffhanger. This two month delay, which led fans to launch another social media campaign to ensure the show continues, was in part due to talks about finding ways to produce the series more efficiently for streaming, rather than as a broadcast drama, where the series originated.

The streamer has picked up a seventh season of the David Boreanaz-led drama. It will be the third installment that’s exclusive to Paramount+; the series ran for four seasons on CBS before moving platforms with season five in fall 2021.
“We look forward to bringing Seal Team fans even more of the series’ poignant storylines and thrilling missions with the upcoming seventh season,” Paramount Streaming chief programming officer Tanya Giles said in a statement. “The series continues to evolve and grow its audience. It is a great example of the types of programming that we see resonate with our subscribers.”

Seal Team ended its sixth season, leaving us wondering where Bravo goes from here, considering that the entire team — and other SEALs — spoke up as Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) faced command after going public with his Tbi. But we have more burning questions for a potential Season 7 than that.. Was the episode in which Clay died the last time we’ll see Max Thieriot? What changed as a result of killing him off? We turned to showrunner Spencer Hudnut to get answers to those and more. Is it possible we’d see Max again in a flashback in the future? Spencer Hudnut: We’ve done things like that in the past. I just think part of this decision was that just to finish Max’s work this season was such a struggle. The idea of being able to ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Seal Team Season 6 finale “Fair Winds and Following Seas.”] How can Bravo move forward after that?! In the Seal Team Season 6 finale, Bravo returned home, but not in time for Clay’s (Max Thieriot) funeral (though they visited his grave). And Jason (David Boreanaz) did accept the Navy Cross, and in doing so, he publicly spoke about his Tbi and Clay’s work to change the military’s views on them. “I don’t know if coming clean is going to change anything, but hell if it saves the next guy, then maybe I’ll be a different kind of hero, like my brother, Clay Spenser,” he said. The finale ended with Jason facing command after that move, and he was joined by Ray (Neil Brown Jr.), the rest of Bravo, and other SEALs who spoke up about their own struggles. Showrunner Spencer Hudnut discusses where the show goes from there if ...

Paramount+’s Seal Team season six episode 10 finds the team mourning the loss of one of their own. Fans are still reeling from the events of episode nine which found Clay Spenser passing away – and Max Thieriot exiting the series. Given that Thieriot’s the lead in Fire Country, Clay’s death was shocking yet not unexpected.
In an interview with TV Insider, executive producer Spencer Hudnut talked about the decision to kill off Clay.
“For a long time, I really weighed maybe he and Stella (Alona Tal) and Brian do move out to California and live that life that they talk about in this episode. But because of his traumatic injury to his leg, he has a long road ahead to recover, and because the show is so much about vet issues and what our men and women in uniform deal with when they come home, it just felt...

As hard as it might be to think about anything beyond the tragic loss that Bravo just suffered on Seal Team, there’s more going on and a lot for the final episodes of Season 6 to tackle. Still, we’re going to see the effects of losing Clay (Max Thieriot) on Bravo in several significant ways going forward, and that includes the lead-up to choices that will set up how the season ends. Executive producer Spencer Hudnut shares more about that and breaks down other storylines of the season below. I’ve liked what you’ve done with Jason (David Boreanaz) and Omar’s (Raffi Barsoumian) dynamic and the fact that even though Jason trusted him with his Tbi, they’re still feeling each other out. So, when we caught up with Hudnut recently, we tried to find out more about it as what the future holds for Seal Team. Plus, get a tease for how the current season ends and more. Seal Team Season 6 is going to be the most dramatic yet.
Paramount+ released the official trailer for the new season of the hit original drama series and revealed the season will get underway on Sunday, September 18.
Produced by CBS Studios, the series will debut all-new episodes weekly on Sundays exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. Seal Team stars David Boreanaz, Max Thieriot, Neil Brown, Jr., Aj Buckley, Toni Trucks, and Raffi Barsoumian.
The official trailer is a shocker because it gives us some context about the state of the Bravo Team following Seal Team Season 5 Episode 14, which left the team in more danger than ever.
If we take the trailer at face value, Clay is the only member of the team not to escape unscathed.
Sure, everyone has cuts and bruises, but Clay is hospitalized, and his condition does not look good.

“NCIS” is heading down under.
The long-running CBS franchise is being adapted for Paramount Plus Australia and broadcaster Network 10 in a deal that marks the first international edition for the CBS Studios-produced juggernaut.

The David Boreanaz-led Seal Team will be back for another go-round on Paramount+: the ViacomCBS streamer has renewed the military drama series for a 10-episode sixth season.
This makes it two-for-two, with both CBS drama series that moved from CBS to Paramount+ last May, Evil and Seal Team, earning pickups for another season as Paramount+ originals.
The decision is not a surprise. In Paramount+’s 2021 end-of-year report on its top original content performers, the streamer revealed that the most watched original drama series on the platform (Paramount+ classifies drama Star Trek: Discovery a sci-fi series) was Seal Team, followed by Evil.
Both crime series already had done well on Paramount+/CBS All Access while they were airing on CBS; their transition to streaming-only appears to have brought over loyal viewers from the broadcast network, which had been the goal for the move.

“Seal Team” has been renewed for Season 6 at Paramount Plus.
This will now be the second season of the military drama to air on the streaming service, as the show moved over to Paramount Plus from CBS for Season 5.
“We are very excited to welcome ‘Seal Team’ back for another season on Paramount+,” said Nicole Clemens, president of Paramount Plus Original Scripted Series. “The show’s loyal fanbase followed the series to its new exclusive home, and it has proven to be a high-performing title for the service, consistently in the top 10 most-watched original series. We can’t wait for the fans to see what our brilliant creative team has in store for Team Bravo next season!”
The series follows the professional and personal lives of the most elite unit of Navy SEALs, as they train, plan and execute the most dangerous, high-stakes missions our country can ask of them.

The gritty military drama honors the 20th anniversary in this week’s powerful episode, set mostly the day before, September 10, 2001. Younger actors were cast to play pre-battle-weary incarnations of the heroes we’ve followed for five seasons. “It’s an origin story,” explains Seal Team executive producer Spencer Hudnut. “In the final act, we get to that horrible morning and see how that day impacted their lives and their future decisions that led them to Bravo.” In the present day, the unit goes to New York City’s 9/11 Memorial & Museum for the anniversary. Leader Jason Hayes (Boreanaz) is contributing an item to the collection—a plot point inspired by executive producer and former Seal Mark Owen’s donation from the Abbottabad raid on bin Laden’...
