A couple months ago we learned that Disney was developing a new live-action movie centered around the 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil. The film will be called Cruella, and according to THR, Emma Stone is in talks to play the title character.
The project doesn’t have a director yet, but the script is being written by Kelly Marcel (Saving Mr. Banks). The film is a priority for the studio and they hope to shoot it later this year.
The report says that the film will tell an origin story of the classic character. De Vil was introduced in Disney’s 1961 animated classic in which she's obsessed with capturing the dalmatians. Glenn Close played the villain in the 1996 live-action John Hughes-produced movie, which I didn’t really care for.
It's not hard to imagine Stone in the role of a young Cruella. She’s a great choice, so if...

A post-apocalyptic context is the setting du jour these last few years. It’s a common theme in many of popular movies and television shows. Now it looks like Real Steel director Shawn Levy is heading down that road as well with a new Paramount Pictures project.
THR reports that Paramount Pictures is in talks for Monster Problems, a spec script by Brian Duffield (Jane Got a Gun, Your Bridesmaid’s a Bitch) that Levy’s production company, 21 Laps will produce. The project is described as “a post-apocalyptic road movie in the vein of Mad Max and Zombieland with a John Hughes-esque love story at its center”.
No production or release dates have been announced for Monster Problems.

Shawn Levy may not be one of the most popular directors in Hollywood by film nerds with access to a keyboard and a "comment" button, but that doesn’t seem to make it any tougher for the man to find work. His films are largely forgettable, but anyone who has ever come into contact with the man will attest to the fact that his enthusiasm is infectious, and you’d have to imagine that comes across in the meetings he takes. If IMDb is to be believed, Levy currently has 28 films (give or take) in development (as either a director or producer), and while a handful of those may never come to pass you wouldn’t bet against the majority.
Well, you can add one more because THR reports that Paramount is in negotiations to pick up a spec script called “Monster Problems” for Levy and his 21 Laps production banner to produce.

From a studio.s perspective, Shawn Levy.s a bankable name. As a director, he.s helmed such lucrative titles as Cheaper By the Dozen ($138.6 million), Night at the Museum ($$250.8M) and its sequel ($177M). So when he comes up with a potential concept and a spec script from Black List screenwriter Brian Duffield, you can understand why a studio like Paramount would be willing to take a gamble. The project, according to Heat Vision, is titled Monster Problems, which the trade describes as .a post-apocalyptic road movie in the vein of Mad Max and Zombieland with a John Hughes-esque love story at its center.. Interesting. That.s a number of different, opposing genres that Duffield will have to try and fit into one workable script. Will it be dramatic like Max? Funny like Zombieland? We don.t know much about Duffield yet, but two of his in-the-works projects...
