Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, Wendy Molyneux, and Minty Lewis made something special with "The Great North," an animated sitcom about the adventures of Tobin family from Lone Moose, Alaska. Patriarch Beef Tobin (Nick Offerman) is a single dad raising his children Ham (Paul Rust), Judy (Jenny Slate), and Moon (Aparna Nancherla), while his adult son Wolf (Will Forte) and his wife Honeybee (Dulcé Sloan) live in the guest house on site. With teenage Judy coming of age without the presence of her mother, who left the family years ago, she looks for a feminine guidance from an unlikely source -- her imaginary friend in the stars, Alanis Morissette.
Late at night, Judy often sits on the roof and talks to a sentient constellation in the form of the "Jagged Little Pill" scribe, who is also voiced by the actual Alanis Morissette. "Because she is such a musical legend, people forget that she's really funny,...

We're currently living in a heyday of adult animation, with shows like "The Simpsons," "Bob's Burgers," "Central Park," "Family Guy," "Rick and Morty," "Arcane," "Big Mouth," "Love, Death & Robots" and countless others delivering the goods. In 2021, Fox delivered a pandemic saving gift in the form of "The Great North," a family comedy from the always hilarious Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, and Minty Lewis. Featuring a dynamic voice cast including Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Will Forte, Paul Rust, Aparna Nancherla, Dulcé Sloan, and Alanis Morissette, "The Great North" centers on the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, headed by single dad Beef, his lovably weird kids Wolf, Judy, Ham, and Moon, and Wolf's fiancé, Honeybee.
Given the fact "Bob's Burgers" and "Central Park" creator Loren Bouchard serves as an executive producer and the show shares a similar animation style, the comparisons between the series were inevitable, but "The Great North" deserves to be viewed,...

Ahead of its Season 2 premiere, Fox has renewed animated comedy The Great North, from Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard, for a third season.
The early renewal comes as Fox continues to double down on animation. It follows renewals of animated series including Bob’s Burgers, Duncanville, Family Guy and The Simpsons and new series Housebroken.
The Great North follows the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, as a single dad, Beef, voiced by Nick Offerman, does his best to keep his weird bunch of kids close – especially his only daughter, Judy (Jenny Slate), whose artistic dreams lead her away from the family fishing boat and into the glamorous world of the local mall.
Cancellations/Renewals Scorecard: TV Shows Ended Or Continuing In 2020-21 Season
Rounding out the family are Judy’s older brother, Wolf, (Will Forte) and his fiancé, Honeybee (Dulcé Sloan), her middle brother, Ham (Paul Rust), and ten-year-old-going-on-fifty little brother,...

During The Great North‘s TCA slot on Wednesday, creators Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin had a message for networks with new shows in progress: “Pick up those seasons early.”
Months before the Molyneux sisters’ Alaska comedy made its debut on Fox in January, the network ordered a sophomore reason, granting the showrunners an organic platform and the confidence to expand their stories, they said.
“I think it gave us a feeling of confidence and the ability to relax and feel like the stories we were telling were the right kind of stories,” said Lizzie. “I think everyone has had a very difficult year and things have been tough for everyone, so I think it was nice to have that sense of comfort and confidence going into season two.”

About three years ago, IndieWire’s David Ehrlich took note of a budding movie trend, spurred on by the encouraging words of an affable brown bear: “If you’re kind and polite, the world will be right.” Living your life by whatever Paddington says is as worthy a religion as any, but this particular profundity hit home even more in the dark days of Trump. While reality grew colder, certain pieces of pop culture offered a warm hug, and the nicecore movement was born.
Now, as the world awaits Paddington’s return (make it happen), a small boy sporting bear ears is doing what he can to keep the spirit of Peru’s greatest export alive. In Fox’s new animated comedy, “The Great North,” Moon, an oddly named 10-year-old in a family of abnormally named men, may not be the next Paddington (as if one could ever exist), but...

This Valentine’s Day, Fox is expanding its Animation Domination Sunday block with a show that immediately seems familiar enough to qualify as comfort TV from its very opening minutes.
“The Great North” follows a family of lovable, scrappy weirdos — headed up by gruff but sweet dad Beef (Nick Offerman) — who stumble into strange adventures so often that every episode is called some variation of the “[X Event] Adventure”. Even when they clash, the Tobins are fiercely loyal to each other above all else. So while the Tobins may live in the wilds of Alaska, they’re very close spiritual cousins to the characters of Fox’s sweetest cornerstone comedy “Bob’s Burgers,” which makes sense given how much overlap there is between the two series. Not only is “The Great North” also animated by the Bento Box studio, but it’s co-created by “Bob’s Burgers” mainstays Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin,...

Something tells us that Fox’s newest animated family is going to fit in just fine among the other Sunday night weirdos.
TVLine has an exclusive sneak peek of The Great North — airing Sunday (8:30/7:30c), ahead of its formal Feb. 14 premiere — which drops viewers in on a typical breakfast with the delightfully atypical Tobins. Our personal favorite moment comes around the 30-second mark, when Honeybee (voiced by The Daily Show‘s Dulcé Sloan) maps out the Brokeback Mountain-themed wedding of her dreams. And ours.

“Bob’s Burgers” will soon cross the 200-episode threshold, a milestone that a miniscule percentage of television shows ever achieve. For perspective, that puts it in league with such major hits as “Friends” and “The Office,” to name just a few.
Yet for the creative team behind the show, one of the most important things is remaining humble despite the years of success the series has enjoyed.
“Every single person that speaks to me either in person or online and says they like the show, I truly approach that person as if they’re a little miracle,” says creator and co-showrunner Loren Bouchard.
There are now millions of those little miracles, something that 20th Television’s executive vice president of animation Marci Proietto attributes to the creative team’s continued humility. Fox has renewed animated comedy The Great North, from Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard, ahead of its premiere.
The renewal of the show, which is set to launch midseason, comes as Fox continues to double down on animation. The network has been aggressively ramping up its slate of animation over the last few years with the likes of Bless The Harts, Duncanville, Housebroken and a new series from Rick and Morty co-creator joining the likes of The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers.
Earlier this year, Fox’s President of Entertainment Michael Thorn told Deadline that animation was a “key part” of its business and it wants to build on this legacy.

I hear Richard aLovely is likely dead though there is a small chance of it being redeveloped. On Patty’s Auto, I hear the pilot is not going forward at the moment, with some suggesting...

The Art of Regular Show was released earlier this month by Titan Books and we got our hands on a copy. The large format (11.4” x 8.9”) 160 page collection of animation stills, sketches, storyboards, and commentaries chronicles the shows creation and its eccentric cast. We see how a rough set of proto-characters evolved into the Pops, Mordecai and Benson that we’ve come to know in the series.
If you’re not familiar with the series, Regular Show is an American animated television series created by J. G. Quintel for Cartoon Network that premiered in 2010. The series revolves around the lives of two friends, a blue jay named Mordecai and a raccoon named Rigby—both employed as groundskeepers at a local park. Their regular attempts to slack off usually lead to surreal, extreme, and often supernatural misadventures.
The book covers ground with each cast member including Quintel, Paula Spence, Sean Szeles, Calvin Wong,...

(Cbr) For a series set in a public park, Cartoon Network’s "Regular Show" does a great deal to expand the weirdness of animated television. Masterminded by creator Jg Quintel, the cartoon adventures of bluejay Mordecai and raccoon Rigby often slide into flights of lunacy, with ghost truckers, haunted arcade games, professional partiers and even “The Best VHS in the World.” In advance ofthe release of the Season 3 DVD box set, Quintel spoke with Spinoff Online about the series’ surprise longevity, the expanding cast of a show with more than 100 episodes under its belt, and the craziness alternative-comics artists bring to the show. Plus, Cartoon Network shares an exclusive new clip from the DVD’s special features. Spinoff Online: Jg, in its years on air, "Regular Show" has bucked the trend of recent animated shows on cable. Up until recently, cartoons were expected to only run a set amount of...

(Cbr) It’s hard not to like Mordecai and Rigby, the animal heroes of Cartoon Network’s "Regular Show". Featuring the same brand of off-the-wall humor that has made shows like "Adventure Time" resonate with audiences, the hit series is now rounding the bases on its fifth season. At WonderCon 2014 in Anaheim, the writers and voice actors behind the hit series hosted a panel full of laughs to discuss the current season and what’s next for Mordecai, Rigby and the rest of the gang. The panel began with a video spotlight introducing the assembled talent with clips from previous shows they’ve worked on. "Regular Show" writer Matt Price then waltzed onto the stage in “tants” — pants with a square top around the waist — which Price said come in very handy, especially considering he has to put his notes for the panel down somewhere. After the laughter died down,...
