She’s famous because she likes to fight, but it’s not quite as bad as it sounds. Jessamyn Duke isn’t just walking the streets getting into fistfights with random strangers. She’s paid to beat people up, and that’s probably the most relaxing and cathartic job out there. She’s a WWE wrestler, and you probably know her well if you follow the sport. If you don’t follow the sport, however, you might want to. She’s a pretty cool chick, and there is so much more to her than just the character she plays and the rough life she seems to live. She’s

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Ruby Tuesday hopping into bed with Big Boy, because they met at the National Restaurant Chain Convention and when they swapped burger recipes they got real horny and…Damn. We’ve got a Ladder Match in the main event, so call Bob Villa and let him know he can come hold the thing up.
Match #1: Becky Lynch vs. Rhea Ripley (No Contest) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Triple H opened the door to Nxt and The Man came around and walked right in. Trash talking, sneak attacks and hostile takeovers have ruled the month during Raw, SmackDown and Nxt’s brand warfare on the road to Survivor Series. But Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch wasn’t having any of that. Taking Triple H up on the open invitation...

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Elton John used to kick that Tiny Dancer from his song. What a prick. This show has a lot of great wrestling on it, so let’s not waste any time on folding our napkins, because Vanilla Sky is the greatest movie ever made. Nxt…Now!
Match #1: Rhea Ripley def. Bianca Belair The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
They say the enemy of your enemy is your friend, and that holds true for Candice LeRae in the case of Io Shirai. Rhea Ripley’s bout with Bianca Belair showcased two of the Nxt Women’s division’s most powerful competitors trading tests of strength and athleticism. Neither was able to gain much of an advantage in the evenly matched bout until Shirai arrived to try to spoil things for Ripley, apparently not...

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a brand that is about to debut on the USA Network soon. I wish it good luck, because if the ratings go down, Vince McMahon will get far more involved than many of us were ever hoping for. Okay, let’s make like Helen Hunt and get Mad About You…Mad About You bay-bay! Yeah!
Match #1: Damian Priest def. Mansoor The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Despite operating at a severe size and strength disadvantage against Damian Priest, Mansoor showed that he’s got the determination, technique and heart to stand toe-to-toe with the mighty Archer of Infamy. Mansoor brought the fight to the big man, stunning Priest with hard-to-predict aerial strikes and eye-popping reversals. Slick maneuvers and boundless courage, however, were not enough to propel Mansoor to victory on this night.

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a match or two to watch out for on this show. By the way, Velveteen Dream and Matt Riddle both put their feet in their mouths in the past week (they both buried numerous other wrestlers for their own benefit), so don’t be surprised if they both end up dead. Okay, let’s dive right in.
Match #1: Io Shirai & Candice LeRae vs. Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir ended in a No Contest The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The smoldering ember left behind after Io Shirai and Shayna Baszler’s explosive Nxt Women’s Title clash at Nxt TakeOver: Xxv sparked a new flame that ultimately torched The Genius of the Sky’s tag-team tangle against The Horsewomen. Before lighting another fuse against The Queen of Spades, though, Shirai and...

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a bad week from the WWE to deal with as we look at Nxt. Okay, here we go.
Match #1: Mansoor def. Sean Maluta The following is courtesy wwe.com:
Mansoor has shown well during all his appearances on Nxt and Nxt UK, giving established Superstars like Dominik Dijakovic and Travis Banks a run for their money. Tonight, however, Mansoor not only turned in another head-turning performance, but he also scored his first victory on Nxt TV, defeating Sean Maluta. The “Samoan Dragon” gave Mansoor plenty of trouble, at one point catching him with a leaping Codebreaker off the middle turnbuckle, but Mansoor courageously fought back. He snapped off a low-angle German suplex before hitting Maluta with a slingshot neckbreaker and an innovative twisting inverted suplex to score the three-count.
My Opinion:...

Welcome to this week’s review of WWE’s Worlds Collide, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have two battle royals to get to, so let’s do so.
Match #1: Bianca Belair won the Women’s Battle Royal The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
“I’m on my own, against the wall” might be the opening lyrics of Bianca Belair’s entrance song, but those words also tell the story of her triumph in the Worlds Collide’s Women’s Battle Royal. With no allies in sight, and 17 opponents eying the same victory circle, The Est of Nxt powered her way to one of the biggest wins of her career. As talented as Belair is, besting a loaded field of Nxt and Nxt Superstars was far from the easiest task. The Horsewomen’s Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir operated like two wolves from the same pack,...

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the final card before Wrestlemania, so let’s see if Vince even watches Nxt (probably not).
Match #1: War Raiders def. local competitors The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Before defending their titles against Aleister Black & Ricochet at TakeOver: New York, Nxt Tag Team Champions The War Raiders pre-gamed with a set of stretch drills. Of course, the “stretch drills” in this case were at the expense of the opponents who had the unfortunate task of squaring up against them in the ring. To send a message ahead of TakeOver, Hanson & Rowe unloaded their domineering might on a pair of locals, who were trounced within a matter of seconds.
My Take: 1 out of 5 – This sucked. Why would I want to watch these guys work squashes when they can actually wrestle?

Match #1: Kacy Catanzaro & Lacey Lane vs. Aliyah & Vanessa Borne The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The much-anticipated Nxt TV debut of Mae Young Classic alumnae Kacy Catanzaro & Lacey Lane, against the aggressive combination of Aliyah & Vanessa Borne, ended in painful fashion for the newcomers, thanks to Nxt Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler. Flanked by Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir, The Queen of Spades barged in as The Vision and her bougie teammate were doing a number on Lane, before Catanzaro even tagged into the match. Match #1: Aleister Black def. Roderick Strong The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
In the battle of blistering kicks and spine-wrecking backbreakers, Aleister Black and Roderick Strong elicited plenty of “oohs” and “ahhs” from the Full Sail Live crowd this week. The hard-hitting encounter saw both Superstars plaster each other with dizzying offense. The Messiah of the Backbreaker lived up to his moniker, tattooing the back of The Dutch Destroyer with a thunderous backdrop atop the steel rings steps. Strong continued the onslaught inside the yellow ropes, steeping Black’s back with punishing submission holds and, yes, more backbreakers. As if the backdrop over the steel steps hadn’t already caused damage, Strong...

Match #1: Dominik Dijakovic def. Shane Thorne The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
Shane Thorne came prepared for his battle against the dominant Dominik Dijakovic, and he executed his savvy game plan to near perfection. The cunning Aussie relentlessly kicked Dijakovic down to size, then tenaciously went after the big man’s left arm, and when The Rare Breed kept coming at him, Thorne suplexed him on his noggin.
No amount of strategizing, however, could properly account for Dijakovic’s freakish athleticism. While both Superstars tussled on the top turnbuckle, the 270-pound Dijakovic backflipped out of danger and nailed Thorne with a superkick that...

Match #1: Jaxson Ryker (with The Forgotten Sons) beat Mansoor The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
Jaxson Ryker continued the 2019 leg of The Forgotten Sons’ Do Unto Others tour by showing no mercy to Nxt’s newest blue-chip prospect, Monsoor. The power of Ryker went unhinged almost immediately after the bell, folding Monsoor in half with an explosive spear after he attempted a diving double axe- handle. From there came a canvas-pounding powerbomb to close out the bout. Afterward, Ryker dragged Monsoor back into the ring for another crushing powerbomb, altogether leaving a message no one would forget.
My Take: 2 out of 5 – Ryker beat the life out of Mansoor and there you $#@!&?$ go.

What a week it’s been for Kairi Sane & Io Shirai. The phrase “actions speaks louder than words” took a life of its own in the high-octane battle between Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch and Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel. Picking up from where their harsh verbal encounter concluded two weeks ago, the double-tough tandems unleashed pure bedlam inside and outside the yellow ropes. Where there was a brick-laced uppercut thrown by Burch & Lorcan, a devastating combo attack by Barthel & Aichner was waiting to follow – like Barthel literally tossing Lorcan into a grab-and-go suplex by Aichner. Nxt Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler’s ruthless approach to the ring clearly rubbed off on her Four Horsewomen allies Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke, as the debuting duo methodically tore into Dakota Kai after an illegal kick behind the referee’s back gave them the advantage. The gutsy Captain of Team Kick absorbed Shafir & Duke’s punishment for several minutes, but she still had the wherewithal to stun Duke with a heel kick and tag Io Shirai into action for the first time on Nxt TV. The women of WWE will be getting their own dedicated PPV. We have the results as they happen!
We're in an era where WWE wants to be more progressive towards the female side of the roster and their fans. In the last couple years, we’ve seen women main-event PPVs. We’ve seen them take part in Hell in a Cell matches, Money in the Bank, and even a Royal Rumble. Now it’s time for their first ever all-female PPV called WWE Evolution 2018. Women from WWE’s past, present, and future will be competing, from returning legends to Nxt hopefuls.
Unfortunately, the show seems like less of a big deal when they’re doing WWE Crown Jewel a few days later in a country where women aren’t even allowed to wrestle or even be shown in their wrestling attire.
Kind of takes the wind out of its sails.

At first glance, Ufc Fight Night 45 (the event’s numeric title) is one of those cards that looks more like an action-packed preliminary card leading into a PPV more than it does an event in itself. Both the prelims and the main event air on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S., with just one bout on Ufc Fight Pass – the first ever women’s strawweight bout in the Ufc, between Cláudia Gadelha and Tina Lähdemäki.
While it’s not a couple of huge names – the bulk of the strawweight division will be brought in via The Ultimate Fighter 20, which will crown a champion at the end of the season – it’s still a milestone, and there’s a question as to why it’s airing on Fight Pass in the first place.
