Wattpad Webtoon Studios is tackling an adaptation of Hawk, its popular sci-fi webnovel by Mike Booth, tapping Christopher Yost to pen the project.
The project is being developed as an animated series, which Yost, a Marvel Comics scribe who segued to screenwriting with Thor: Ragnarok and The Mandalorian, will write.
Executive producing will be Aron Levitz, David Madden, Taylor Grant and Sydney Bright for Webtoon.
Booth’s webnovel follows the adventures of space bounty hunter Kas Balera. When a disaster of epic proportions rocks the entire solar system, Balera must rally a stolen federal robot, a child genius and her trusty ship, the Calista, in order to save the galaxy from destruction.
The novel has over 1 million reads on Wattpad.

An animated series adaptation of Mike Booth’s webnovel “Hawk” is in development at Wattpad Webtoon Studios, Variety has learned exclusively.

‘Godzilla Vs Kong’ and ‘The Guest’ helmer Adam Wingard has signed up to direct and rewrite the script for a long-in-gestation movie adaptation of the carton ‘Thundercats’.
Wingard has stated that the big-budget, hybrid CGI movie will use the animation series of the 80s’ as a “jumping point” but it will take a new path “in a direction he has been thinking about for many years”.
